Epona's Path is a Florida-based, all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing horses of all ages and breeds from scenarios such as slaughter, abuse, abandonment, and neglect. Established in 2011, the rescue provides shelter, food, veterinary care, training, rehabilitation, and sanctuary for horses and foals without other options, thanks to partnerships with local and national animal welfare organizations, including Animal Care and Control services, local Humane Societies, the ASPCA, and others. Epona's Path places each rescued horse in permanent situations through a careful process that emphasizes professional training, aimed at ensuring good ground manners and the ability to participate harmoniously in activities like trail riding, jumping, hunt seat, saddle seat, and driving. The organization prides itself on its philosophy of rescuing horses just once for life by providing lifelong care or placing them with carefully selected adopters. Additionally, Epona's Path is actively engaged in public education and national advocacy to break the cycle of cruelty and neglect. Incorporated in 2011 and operating from Fort Meade, Florida, the organization remains active under leadership including Curtis Reik as Managing Representative (MR) and Rita Reik as Director of Record (DR).
