Daniel Marzuola, President & Chief Operating Officer of Energy Market Exchange (EMEX, LLC) brings with him thirty years of experience in the energy industry and the proven ability to lead multi-disciplined and multinational teams. His experience spans retail and wholesale energy sales, marketing, engineering, government relations, and process management. Marzuola spent fourteen years with TXU in various positions from a System Planning Engineer to the General Manager of a natural gas distribution system in Mexico. During his time with TXU he worked as the Director of Government Issues and was appointed by the Governor of Texas as a member of the Oil and Gas Compact Commission. After leaving TXU he spent one year as an Energy Consultant Executive for CDM Energy Management followed by the next three years as a Senior Director of C&I Sales for Direct Energy focusing on the ERCOT market in Texas. Marzuola strengthened his tenure in the energy industry over the past seven years with Hudson Energy as the Senior Vice President of Sales and the General Manager of the United Kingdom operations. Marzuola holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Southern Methodist University. Ryan Segmond, Chief Information Officer of Energy Market Exchange (EMEX, LLC), is the co-founder of the company and is a primary architect of the EMEX platform. Segmond is intimately involved in all facets of the company; including ongoing technological developments, traffic control, customer & partner relations, public speaking engagements, maintaining IT and corporate infrastructure, and in marketing where he functions as the company’s senior editor and copywriter. Segmond works hand-in-hand with EMEX’s engineering team to optimize the tools and advanced technology that the platform offers, and is an intermediary between the engineering, sales, and analytical teams to create solutions that address the energy market’s greatest needs. He is experienced with contract negotiations, regulatory laws, national energy procurement policies, and in providing educational insight and guidance to EMEX’s sales agents and affiliates. Segmond has dedicated his professional career to EMEX and carries over 10 years of industry experience as an executive. Jason Ives is the Vice President of Engineering for Energy Market Exchange (EMEX, LLC). Ives has 15 years of experience in software engineering, specializing in web applications. He is responsible for leading major software engineering efforts from concept through implementation. Ives provides team leadership in project planning and technical design, defining project scope and methodologies. Ives manages EMEX’s global development and engineering team throughout the US and South America. Kevin McAlpin, Vice President & General Counsel of Energy Market Exchange (EMEX, LLC), holds over 20 years of combined legal & risk management experience advising a variety of companies ranging from Fortune 20 corporations to innovative emerging companies on how to achieve strategic success. McAlpin’s primary areas of expertise include general corporate law, complex energy product transactions in both wholesale & retail markets, regulatory affairs & compliance issues, mergers & acquisitions, litigation, contract negotiations, and business management. McAlpin has previously worked in executive and legal counsel roles for Just Energy, Standard Renewable Energy, and ExxonMobil. Mr. McAlpin is a 1991 graduate of The Citadel and holds an MBA from the University of Mississippi and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from The University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Corporate Counsel Association. Mike Nemer, Senior Vice President of Sales of Energy Market Exchange (EMEX LLC) and Chief Operating Officer of the corporate subsidiary EMEX Utility Group (EUG), has been in the energy markets for 35 years, starting with an independent oil producer after graduating from the University of Kansas. After working for the oil producer, Nemer moved to Tulsa and began trading refined fuels with Petroleum Trading and Transportation. In 1989, Nemer moved to Houston, continuing to trade refined fuels and crude oil for Enron. While at Enron, Nemer began the SMARTT Pricing program, teaching producers how to hedge their production by embedding puts in the sale of their crude oil. In 1996, Nemer became a partner in Amerex Natural Gas, which by 2000 became one of the country’s largest voice brokerage firms. After selling his interest, Nemer opened an office in 2005 for TFS Energy, a global brokerage firm, where they brokered natural gas, crude oil, power and retail electricity in Houston. In 2012, Nemer decided to leave voice brokering, to focus on the futures market as an Introducing Broker representing multiple FCM’s, which led him to starting Commodities Prime Services. Nemer is one of the founding members of the University of Houston, C.T. Bauer College of Business Dean Advisory Board for their Global Energy Management Institute program and holds both Series 3 and Series 30 licenses.
