Founded in Minneapolis in 1957, Emanuelson-Podas was originally Olson, Emanuelson and March. Over the years, growth and changing business needs have seen us move from Minneapolis to Richfield to Minnetonka and finally to our current space in Edina. Our name was officially changed in 1977 to Emanuelson-Podas. While the company has had leadership transitions in the years since 1977, we have retained a name that is synonymous with exceptional mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services. Over the course of our 60 years in business we have seen the emergence of new technologies and expectations. Our core commitments to exceeding client expectations, hiring and retaining a talented team of professionals, and demonstrating personal respect for our clients and staff have allowed us to thrive, regardless of the economy or changes in our profession. An early photo shows him in his grandfather’s woodshop making a guitar out of scrap wood and kite string. Although Mike no longer has this work of art, he claims the playability of that instrument would rival some of the finest modern guitars! His interest in guitars continues as he finds himself picking up a guitar for a few “I believe we’ve been successful as a firm because we’ve worked hard to know and understand our clients and their challenges. And then we’ve gone the extra mile to provide thoughtful, creative solutions.” Scott enjoys creating and maintaining business relationships with building owners and architects. Business development for Scott means forming relationships built on mutual trust and respect. He thrives on helping Away from the office, Matt is a woodworker and home improvement junkie. His 130-plus-year-old house has provided numerous opportunities to hone his skills in those areas. Having the appropriate tools for almost any Matt married Sara, his high school sweetheart, over 18 years ago. With their two children in elementary school, weeknights are spent on homework and activities. Weekends often involve the whole family helping on the latest remodeling project, followed by a trip to Dairy Queen. Cooper, a joyful golden retriever, rounds out the family and is a big fan of DQ’s pup cups. John is a managing partner with nearly 15 years’ experience. He leads the mechanical engineering efforts for a number of industry sectors, including fitness, housing and hospitality. As a licensed professional engineer, he is directly involved in all aspects of mechanical design and considers his true expertise plumbing design. John worked for his family’s plumbing company through college in the summers and grew his design expertise on the job at medical office buildings, hospitals, clean rooms and other plumbing-heavy projects. A bonus of his experience is that John is now EP’s resident expert on all household plumbing issues as well! Outside of work, John enjoys time at the cabin with his growing family, including four children under 10. They spend their weekends water skiing, fishing, jet skiing and tearing around in the woods, shooting BB guns and riding dirt bikes. He also likes to buy equipment in need of repair on Craigslist – making boats, snowmobiles or just about any machine find new life in his skilled hands.
