ELWOOD, INC., Spring Hill

Elwood High Performance Motors designs and manufactures rugged stepper and servo motors for harsh and/or specialty environments. Servicing the unique needs of the machine tool, automotive, packaging, food preparation, and varous other industry sectors for the past 45 years has taught us a few things about building motors that survive extreme operating conditions. Whether your needs involve extreme temperatures, high pressure jets of water, sanitation regulation, caustic chemicals or explosive atmospheres, let Elwood High Performance Motors solve your next extreme motor challenge. Founded in 1959, Gettys Manufacturing (as Elwood's Motors group was originally know) has been designing and manufacturing high performance industrial motion control equipment for more than 40 years. Products manufactured in our 80,000 Sq. Ft. facility in Racine, Wisconsin, are satisfying customers throughout the world, including North and South America, Europe, Asia and India. Over time, original Gettys products have been sold under numerous different company and brand names including: Gettys, Gould, Modicon, AEG, API, and Allen Bradley. Initial products included DC Brushed Servo Motors and Drives designed for the machine tool industry. Later, AC Brushless Servo systems were developed to meet the needs of the automotive industry. Stepper motor production was added in 1995 with the acquisition of Rapidsyn. Since acquiring Rapidsyn, emphasis has been on building high performance, ruggedized stepper and servo motors for industrial automation. We are vertically integrated, allowing us to manufacture most of our own components in-house. Vertical integration also gives us greater control over the manufacturing process and subsequent lead times. Our manufacturing process is highly flexible, allowing us to easily accommodate special requests such as custom mounting dimensions windings and connectors. In September of 2001, Gettys was acquired by the Elwood Corporation and became Elwood-High Performance Motors. Located in Oak Creek, Wisconsin; just south of Milwaukee. Elwood manufactures electrical, hydraulic, and robotic equipment for industrial applications. Elwood shares Gettys' philosophy of providing exceptional customer service, and commits to the long-term support of Gettys' significant installed base of motors and drives. Looking to the future, Elwood Motors will be leverage our heritage and experience building rugged products for the machine tool and automotive industry. We are expanding our line of explosion-proof AC Brushless Servo Motors and have developed stepper and servo motor products designed to meet the complex needs of the food and beverage industry. In addition, we are adding IP67-rated stepper motors to compliment our line of high pressure wash down servo motors. ABOUT ELWOOD FLUID POWER Where We Are Today Today, Elwood not only continues providing support to the steel, aluminum, and petro-chemical industries, but has expanded into servicing custom applications for low to medium quantity runs in both water and oil applications.  As a company of engineers, we pride ourself on finding a unique solution to fit our customers needs. The Elwood Corporation is located south of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Once known as the "Workshop of America", this area contained the heaviest concentration of specialist metal machining and processing industries in the United States.  Positioned within industry experts has allowed Elwood an advantage in product development and follow up service.  Through diligent research, now combining local precision and global sourcing allows Elwood to offer the highest quality stainless steel valves at cost comprehensive pricing. About Our Products product line is designed for applications using HFA fluids (soluble oils, other water-based low viscosity fluids) as well as water itself.  Providing stainless steel valves with drop tight sealing designs provides our customers with long term valve productivity.  Our design allows drop-tight seals even in the harshest environments. Elwood is the high pressure applications specialist!  Our history is rooted in serving steel mills, aluminum mills, and petro-chemical industries!  Whether it's heavy lifting, descaling steel or decoking petroleum drums, we have stainless steel valves for either new or facility replacement developments. At Elwood, we are very conscious of our heritage.  Even today, there is an occasional repair or parts inquiry for one of the old RD Wood valves.  Now, as then, quality and robustness with attention to servicing our customers needs are prime considerations resulting in mutual success for both our customers and Elwood. Our confidence is through long term industry knowledge.  In 1803, less than a decade after Joseph Bramah ushered in the era of modern hydraulics by patenting the first hydrostatic press, the RD Wood & Griffin Pipe Companies were established.  The focus of these companies was valves and pipes.  The Charles Elmes Engineering Works, which became the Elmes Press & Valve Company, was founded in 1851 and manufactured water valves, systems and presses. These two companies existed independently until the early 1960s when they were purchased by the Nordberg Heavy Machinery Group of Milwaukee.  Nordberg combined and expanded both product lines.  New developments were centered around the "new" poppet valve technology and the extension of the spindle valve range.  In 1972, the company Rex Chainbelt bought Nordberg Machinery Group, changing its name to Rexnord.  In 1983, the Elwood Electronics Company purchased the Hydraulic Products Division of Rexnord, which subsequently became the Fluid Power Group of the Elwood Corporation. In 1984, the Elwood Corporation purchased the Rexnord Press Division (previously Elmes Presses), which merged with the Elwood Hydraulics Division, now Elwood Fluid Power. ELWOOD CORPORATION The Elwood Corporation was founded in 1973. For more than 40 years, we have been dedicated to providing technology, both products and systems, to a variety of  industries. The Elwood Corporation is comprised of several groups that design and manufacture various equipment for a wide range of industrial applications.
