The Story of Elite Weiler Pools Elite Weiler Pools is known throughout the building community as a leader in custom built swimming pools, spas and fountains for both residential and commercial applications. While their name is synonymous with superior craftsmanship and customer satisfaction, Elite Weiler has a rich history and foundation built around family values, hard work and passion. This is their story. Doug Kennedy is the founding father of Elite Weiler Pools and established the original business name of ‘Elite Pools’ in 1984 after moving to Sarasota. After a few years of sun, Kennedy asked longtime friend and fellow pool enthusiast Bill Krawczyk to join him in Florida in the pool business. In 2001, after Krawczyk’s children were grown, he made the made. Krawczyk’s firm was set up as a sister company to Elite Weiler. With nothing more than a checkbook and a small office, Doug knew his insatiable appetite for success would take his dreams far. After incorporating under Florida law requirements, Doug brought his son, John Kennedy, into the family business. Combining years of experience in the construction industry with a keen sense for business structure and management, Doug and John quickly grew “Elite Pools” to a recognizable name and a nationally ranked pool contractor. In 1990, they acquired a second pool company, “Weiler Pools” to serve as an expansion. The two businesses operated independently until the spring of 1991, when the decision to merge the companies was agreed upon and Elite Weiler Pools was born. Doug is now semi-retired and still Chairman of the Board for Elite Weiler Pools. The business is now managed by John, who sits as President of the company, and his wife Monica, marketing director for Elite Weiler Pools and Owner of Elite Solar. In their first year of business, Elite Pools sold 25 swimming pools, growing that number to 100 within 6 years. To date, they have successfully completed over 11,000 construction projects from simple residential remodels to multi-million dollar commercial installations for businesses like the Hilton Ruby Lakes, Disney World, Tampa International Airport, St. Pete Times Forum, Manatee State College, The Boys and Girls Club, YMCA’s and many others. Elite Weiler Pools has grown tremendously over the years through the hard work and determination of both Doug and John and has become a household name among pool owners. Now a third generation business, Elite Weiler continues to uphold its reputation for satisfied employees, quality built in every project and most importantly, excellent, customer service. Elite Weiler Pools now owns a full fleet of vehicles, their own building and showroom and all equipment within. They have been featured as one of the top 50 swimming pool builders in the nation four times and are known for their unparalleled customer service and satisfaction. Elite Weiler Pools is the only local pool contractor able to provide payment and performance bonds required for municipal and large commercial projects. John D. Kennedy – President of Elite Weiler Pools John was introduced to the pool industry at the age of 15, when he became an employee of Elite Pools under his father. At 18, he became the youngest licensed pool contractor in the state of Florida and gained a valuable education of the pool industry through his father’s years of experience and guidance. “I started in this business while I was still in school, working part-time in the field prepping pools for jobs, educating pool owners through pool school and learning the ins and outs of the business. My father taught me a lot and I rely heavily on his advice,” says John. “Unlike most pool companies, we have a strong passion and consideration for our environment. We use the most energy efficient equipment available and utilize environmentally sustainable construction practices. Coupled with our sister company, Elite Solar Services, we provide our customers with their dream pool while helping to maintain a healthy and eco-friendly environment.” Monica Kennedy LEED AP – Marketing Dir./ Elite Weiler Pools, President/Elite Solar Services Monica moved to Florida from Michigan after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Finance. While studying for an M.B.A. she worked as a corporate controller in Tampa and then investment broker with A.G. Edwards & Sons in Venice. She met John, originally from Michigan, on a beach in Jamaica! (Ask them about the story – if you’ve got some time!) She earned the LEED AP (U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) designation after launching Elite Solar Services with John in 2009. She was the 2011 Honoree at the Celebration of Outstanding Leadership Awards of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Sarasota County Class of 1996. Her board positions on the Myakka Branch of the USGBC, Florida Solar Energy Industries Association and Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy are a natural passion in the nascent green industry. “Raising our two kids is truly the brightest light in our lives, for sure.” She says, “It’s great to be in the business, side by side with my husband and his great family. I’m so lucky it’s like it’s not even work.” Elite Weiler Pools is part of the Elite Group with sister companies Superior Pools of Port Charlotte, Superior Pools of Ft. Myers as well as Elite Solar Services. Monica Kennedy heads the latter company that installs solar pool and domestic water heating and solar photovoltaic (electric) panels. Why the Elite Group? The answer is simple: To offer a full array of services under leadership that upholds the highest standards of customer service and value that is possible. “Most of our customers come to us through referrals” says John, “and everyone in our organizations is committed to keeping it that way.” Superior Pools handles business from Venice, south to Fort Myers, while Elite Weiler focuses primarily on Sarasota and Bradenton.
