Reading about a church on its website shouldn’t feel like reading a personal ad. “Friendly, outgoing church with great personality seeks others to spend quality time with on Sunday mornings.” Instead of posting some sort of sales pitch, we’ll do our best to provide an honest description of what we’re all about. First and foremost, EastLake Church is people helping people find and follow Jesus Christ. Sure, there are lots of ways to describe what a church is like, but we figure that it’s pretty important that we tell you up front that He is what we’re all about. So if you’ve got questions about Jesus, we’d like to think that we’re a good place for you to find some answers. And if you’ve already decided to follow Jesus and are looking for a place to get plugged into ministry and connect with other people in a meaningful way, we believe that EastLake Church is a good place for you to take your next right steps in faith. We believe the Church is at its best when it serves, sacrifices, and loves. Like Jesus, we will stand for those who cannot stand up for themselves. This is why we continue to raise up new leaders who take teams on local and global mission work; both bringing good news and being good news. We were created to live for something larger than ourselves, and God invites everyone everywhere into this way of life. We believe it is the best possible way to live. Each of our locations has its own parking plan, and telling you all the details here would bore us both. Instead of doing a deep dive on all the particulars of where to park for our services, just look for the parking signs and/or volunteers in the yellow/orange vests. They’ll direct you to the very best parking place available and keep things moving through the parking lot. If you need to get closer to the building for any reason, let them know and they can help you make it happen. Well, you’ve got to get out of the car first. We’ll leave that to you. The parking volunteers can point you in the right direction and as you walk up, you’ll probably encounter some volunteer hosts. They’re there to help you get where you need to get, whether that means taking your kids to the children’s ministry classes or walking directly to the auditorium. They can also help you find some coffee, because coffee is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. Remember the last time your kids asked for permission to sit still for an hour? Yeah, we don’t remember that either. That’s why we’ve invested a lot of time and resources into creating fun and age-appropriate environments for your kids to hear about God. So if you’re bringing your kids with you to services, you should check out our safe and secure programs designed just for kids. If you can swing it, you might want to arrive about 10-15 minutes before the service so you won’t feel rushed when you first check them in. And if you want to keep your children with you during service, we have options for that too. Before you come to EastLake Church for the first time, you might want to know what we believe. And we think that being upfront about who we are and what we’re all about is in everyone’s best interest. We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. God created humans in his image to live in loving fellowship with him. But the enemy tempted the first humans and because we choose (and continue to choose) to sin and go our own way, we are alienated from God and suffer the corruption of our nature because of our sin. Because of this, death, disease, darkness, and evil have entered the world and all of creation is in desperate need of redemption. This perfect and holy God did not abandon us to our own destruction but instead promised to provide a way to restoration and redemption. That way took on flesh in the person and work of Jesus Christ. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. He died a substitutionary death on the cross as payment for our sins. His suffering, death, burial, and resurrection bring hope for all humankind. Sin and death have been defeated and the promise of forgiveness and eternal communion with God are available through Jesus. No amount of good works or human effort can restore us from our state of eternal alienation from God. It is only by God’s free grace that we are saved from this state of alienation. This grace is appropriated by a change of heart toward God’s leadership in our lives, and by faith in Jesus to forgive our sins.
