Dykstra Construction, Inc. started in 1997 by Vern Dykstra. His father, Vern Dykstra Sr. was also a builder, so it was second nature for his son to follow his footsteps. Vern Sr. was a builder from 1954-1995 until he retired. Vern Jr. started building in 1973 with his father. He then decided to work as a project manager for other builders until he created his own company. In 1997, he started Dykstra Construction, which became incorporated in 1999. Darry Dykstra, like his father and grandfather, also became a builder. In 1997, he started working as a superintendent for another builder and left 2 years later to work for his dad. He worked as a carpenter at Dykstra Construction, Inc. from 1998-2002. Then, in 2002, Darry took over as President of Dykstra Construction, Inc. He has since turned Dykstra Construction into one of Florida’s leaders in statewide contracting and facility maintenance.
