DUCKY JOHNSON HOUSE MOVERS, INC., Marianna

Ducky Johnson House Movers began thirty seven (47) years ago with nothing but a dilapidated truck, a set of steel beams purchased on a payment plan, and a bright young man armed with vision and a stern work ethic. Ducky had a moving knowledge passed down on to him from an early age by his father, the late Noah Johnson. Noah was a house mover and father with 18 children. He taught them early the importance of being productive. Ducky Johnson House Movers was created from determination, sacrifice and hard manual labor. Today the business is thriving and successfully covering Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Louisiana. The business is moving and lifting approximately 300 structures a year which include small out buildings, wood houses, masonry houses, heavy machinery, large tanks, vessels, and precipitators using modern equipment and incorporating modern technology. The business also buys and sells houses and buildings. Ducky Johnson House Movers employees between 25 to 30 employees which includes his son, Charlie Johnson, who is now President and CEO of Ducky Johnson House Movers, Inc. Proper foundation installation is key to the durability of any structure. Foundations serve as the basic building block for the structure and is important for the safety of the building (and everyone inside of it!). Whether you’re building from scratch, deciding to complete house elevation or house lifting, or moving a building entirely, it’s important to understand a few crucial components of foundation installation. Because most civilians actually know very little about proper foundations, this article looks at a few different components and materials used in foundation installation. Concrete Concrete can be used for almost any type of building project, and it’s been a popular material for thousands of years. Thanks to its low cost and durability, concrete is one of the most popular materials to be used for foundations. The heavy duty material is typically used for the underground walls which make up the rest of a basement. Additionally, concrete is not only durable, but concrete repair is easily performed. If concrete is chosen as a foundation installation material, a wooden frame must be constructed first. The frame will serve as a base for the concrete to be poured into. After the concrete hardens, the wooden frame can be removed, leaving a solid concrete foundation in its place. Concrete Blocks Concrete blocks differ from concrete in that they are large, brick-like blocks made from concrete, instead of starting off as wet concrete. They are bigger than regular bricks, and while still heavy duty, they can be installed much faster. Additionally, concrete blocks are much lighter than would be expected, making them easy to move and install. They do come in varying thicknesses and durability, so it’s important to choose heavy duty concrete blocks. Another great thing about concrete blocks is that exterior-grade concrete blocks are frost-resistant, meaning they won’t get ruined if water gets inside and freezes. Metal Metal reinforcements are pretty typical when it comes to foundations. When using materials like concrete, metal reinforcements will be fixed into the concrete before it completely dries. In doing this, extra strength and support is added to the building’s foundation. Wood Many people don’t realize that wood can be a great material to create a sturdy base for a structure. While untreated wood is vulnerable to the elements, rot, and other forms of damage, there are other options. Pressure treated wood, which is filled with chemicals, will prevent the wood from rotting or being destroyed by pests. While most people think of concrete as their only option for foundations, wood can be a great alternative. Plus, wood beam repair is also relatively simple. Bricks or Stones Using bricks or stones will ensure your foundation is just as strong as one made from concrete. The only issue with bricks or stones is that these materials are more susceptible to water damage, since water can easily get into the gaps between the materials. Of course, no materials are 100% immune to the effects of time, age, and water. That’s why no matter what kind of material you decide to use for a foundation, waterproofing and frequently checking the condition of the foundation will ensure it will last as long as possible. If there is any damage, especially if your foundation has cracks wider than one fourth of an inch, it’s important to take measures to conduct foundation repair as soon as possible.
