DSV A/S is the parent company and our organisation is divided into three divisions: DSV Air & Sea, DSV Road and DSV Solutions.  Since our establishment in 1976, we have been through a series of mergers to maintain a key position in the global transport industry. As a result, we have grown stronger and larger. With the acquisition of UTi Worldwide Inc. in 2016, we have further strengthened our global network and are now a top five global freight forwarding company. It all began in 1976 when Leif Tullberg and nine independent trucking companies established DSV, De Sammensluttede Vognmænd af 13-7 1976 A/S. The company operated as a cartage department for the owners and only handled contracting haulage and deliveries. These were important acquisitions as they altered the services and product focus as well as made the framework for an international future of the company. In 2000, the biggest step in the company's history was taken by the acquisition of DFDS Dan Transport Group, which led to a new era and strategy. In January 2016, DSV A/S acquired UTi Worldwide Inc. and is now the fifth largest global freight forwarding company in the world. To put focus on our different services and customer segments, DSV separated its operations into three divisions in 2001: Road, Air & Sea and Solutions. The services are being developed, interpreted and tailor-made to meet our customers' increasing demands in respect of product solutions, prices and transit times. In 1976, DSV, De Sammensluttede Vognmænd af 13-7 1976 A/S [the united trucking companies], was founded by nine independent trucking companies and business developer Leif Tullberg. Since then, the company has been subject to a few name changes: In 2000, DFDS Dan Transport Group A/S was acquired, and the activities within transport and logistics continued under the name of DFDS Transport. The name of the parent company, however, remained DSV, De Sammensluttede Vognmænd af 13-7 1976 A/S. In 2001, the activities were divided into three separate divisions with individual business areas; Road, Air & Sea and Solutions. In 2003, the parent company shortened its name to DSV A/S, and in 2007, the activities went through a name change from DFDS Transport to DSV. This step was taken in order to mark a new and joint beginning after the acquisition of Frans Maas in 2006. Furthermore, it minimizes confusion and creates a more logical association between the name of the parent company and its activities. DSV acquires UTi Worldwide Inc., a global supply chain services and logistics company. This allows us to constantly follow developments and explore possibilities for the reduction of carbon footprint. A few years ago, a large customer in Sweden asked us to set up alternative fuel delivery to their supermarket chain. The initiative made us realise that the use of the renewable biodiesel HVO 100 could be feasible on a countrywide distribution basis. It is our estimate that the introduction of HVO 100 fuel will reduce carbon emissions by up to 90%. We are currently testing the first electric truck for inner-city delivery for dm drogeriemarkt, a very large drugstore chain in Germany. If the test is successful, it may lead to large-scale implementation of electric vehicles for urban delivery in Germany.
