In 1973, Dale Hagerman helped open the fourth store in the small chain in Flint, Michigan. Two years later, when his son, Phil Hagerman, graduated from college, Dale traded in his stock to buy the store. With a philosophy that focused on one patient at a time, the pharmacy expanded to a specialty pharmacy, helping patients with complex or chronic conditions. Today, Diplomat relies on its history as a company of proven innovators to set the standard for patient care. Over the years, we’ve grown to become a nationally recognized specialty pharmacy, led by Phil Hagerman, CEO and chairman, and the rest of our executive team. Diplomat steamrolls cigarettes and tobacco products outside its Flushing Road location to promote healthy living and highlight the removal of all such products from its stores. Accreditation Commission for Health Care A national organization developed by home care and alternate-site health care industry providers. ACHC’s board, advisors, surveyors and staff are committed to providing the industry with an accreditation program that helps organizations improve business operations, quality of patient care and services. Common Security Framework (CSF) certification through the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) places Diplomat in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have met industry-defined requirements and are appropriately managing risk. Incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps health care organizations comply with data privacy and security regulations through a comprehensive and flexible set of prescriptive and scalable security controls. HITRUST CSF certification validates compliance with state and federal regulations, standards, and frameworks. Formerly, the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission An independent nonprofit organization, URAC is a well-known leader in promoting health care quality through its accreditation, education and measurement programs. URAC offers a wide range of quality benchmarking programs and services that model the rapid changes in the health care system and provide a symbol of excellence for organizations to validate their commitment to quality and accountability. VAWD® accreditation was developed to help protect the public from the threat of counterfeit drugs. Today, it recognizes that Diplomat has implemented best practices, quality management and security to ensure safe drug distribution. VAWD® accreditation comes from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), an impartial professional organization that supports the state boards of pharmacy in creating uniform regulations to protect public health.
