Alison’s work is shaped not only by her professional experiences but also by personal ones as well: because Alison’s immediate family has been affected by several conditions including dwarfism and multiple learning differences, Alison has witnessed and believes in the power of the human spirit to overcome obstacles and in the importance of helping ourselves and others achieve positive change in our lives, careers, and communities.
Alison earned her MBA from the University of Pittsburgh with concentrations in both Human Resource Management and Finance. She also holds a BA from Bucknell University in both Economics and Philosophy where she was elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa. She is active in the community and currently serves as President of Little People of America of Western PA, an organization that provides support and information to people of short stature and their families; she is also a member of CHADD and the International Dyslexia Association and enjoys advocating for individuals and families affected by ADD and Dyslexia.
Shirley is a leadership development consultant, facilitator, speaker and executive coach with over 25 years of experience in developing and leading successful teams. Drawing on her years of experience as a leader in Roche Pharmaceuticals, a world-wide Fortune 500 company, Shirley brings practical approaches to real-life challenges of developing and leading award-winning teams and high-performing individuals. Her transformational approach incorporates neuroscience, behavior patterns, and emotional and conversational intelligence, all of which allows leaders to create cultures that develop agile and high-performing individuals and teams. Shirley’s approach empowers leaders by elevating their communication and behavioral skills which creates greater trust, connection, and accountability and builds more positive workplaces and improved organizational results.
In addition to holding a degree in business, Shirley is a graduate from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), holds advanced coaching credentials through the International Coach Federation (ICF) and is a registered corporate coach through the World Association of Business Coaches (WABC). She is also certified in Emotional Intelligence through the HayGroup, DiSC Profile Assessments, Profiles International Assessments, the Influential Leader Program through The Center for Influential Leadership, and Conversational Intelligence ®.
Shirley is actively involved in philanthropy and has held leadership and board positions with several philanthropic organizations. She currently serves on the board of the Atlanta Chapter of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) and is a volunteer for SPARCC, an organization for abused women.
