Whether you’re doing Ashtanga, Chair Yoga, Dharma Yoga, Funyasa™, Gentle-Stretchy, Hatha-Raja Yoga, Pre-Natal, "Baby & Me", Kids' Yoga or Vinyasa, all classes (to varying degrees) will involve a combination of physicality, breath-awareness, philosophy and meditation, or focus on detailed bodily alignment to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Some teachers have an athletic fast-paced approach, while others are gentle and slow; some focus more on philosophy and spirituality, and others are more detailed and alignment-oriented. We encourage you to enjoy the eclectic selection of varied teachers and classes that Dharma Studio offers. Always feel free to speak with your teacher if you have questions or special concerns. We opened our doors in January of 2010 with just a dozen classes a week, and we've become a quaint little enclave, celebrated for many things besides our talented team of teachers. The warmth and passion which kindled our beginnings can be felt the moment you step inside. Not only do we offer over 40 classes a week at our boutique studio on lively Commodore Plaza, we also host three weekly outdoor classes, free to the public: two in Peacock Park, and another on the rooftop of the Mayfair Hotel, which are sponsored by the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District. We offer classes for students of all ages and backgrounds, and on weekends we often host compelling events. Our schedule includes classes that range from the traditional to the eclectic, from challenging, fast-paced yoga to therapeutic and gentle-stretchy yoga, including pre-natal, Kids' and "Baby & Me" yoga. We invite the community at large to experience the far-reaching powers of yoga, by offering weekly classes to support a different charity each month, and by hosting free “chair yoga” classes twice a week, for seniors and the mobility-impaired.
