Ken Bresnen is a Managing Director of Denary. Ken has served in senior operational and corporate development roles in several large companies and early-stage ventures in the computer equipment, software, and Internet industries and in several heavy industrial industries. He has lived and worked in the U.S. and Europe and has extensive worldwide business experience Ken has been an advisor for several years to a variety of industrial and technology companies on corporate development matters including: growth strategy, finance, strategic transactions and operations. Prior to forming Denary, Ken Bresnen was Managing Director of an international investment-banking firm with offices in the U.S. and Europe that specialized in mergers and acquisitions in the information technology, electronics, semiconductor, telecommunications, Internet and technical services industries. Transactions were typically cross-border sell-side or buy-side engagements in the $10 – 200 million range. Ken has helped several early stage companies raise equity funds from accredited investors, corporations and institutional investors. Prior to this, Ken was Chairman and CEO of Trialsmith Inc., a highly successful legal information Internet business serving 60,000 attorneys. Before that, he was the founder and Managing Director of The Software Atelier, a community of early-stage software companies, and COO/CFO of Convergent Communications Inc., a supplier of private-label communications networks. Ken Bresnen began his career as a semiconductor production engineer with Texas Instruments in Germany. He then served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force – Strategic Air Command as an ICBM combat crewmember and was a civilian consultant to the U.S. Department of Commerce on telecommunications in the Soviet Union. Ken was a member of one of the first U.S.-sponsored trade delegations to China. He subsequently worked for Air Products and Chemicals, Unit Rig and Equipment and the Telex Corporation. At Telex, he served in senior corporate development, operational, planning and financial roles and managed the post-merger integration of several Memorex operations. He has directed turnarounds in two troubled businesses: a California-based privately-owned $10 million software company and an $85million, 350 person electronics manufacturing and service parts logistics division of a public company in the computer hardware industry. . Here he worked to diversify the company’s revenue sources, launched new businesses, established sales and marketing, and re-branded the company. Prior, he was the VP Marketing and Sales for Austin based software start-up (pre-A-round), nVision Software, Inc. He positioned the company as a manager of composite applications and web services and sharply grew sales, led the efforts to raise private equity funds, and finally worked to sell nVision to ASG in Naples, FL. Prior, he was with Zebra Imaging, Inc. an early stage company, where he was Vice President of Marketing and Sales, General Manager Commercial Division within the highly advanced holographic imaging market. Previously, Juan was the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategic Alliances for General Electric’s global security business, responsible for mapping out and executing growth strategies, including entry into new markets, new channels and new platforms; establishing strategic partnerships as well as setting the direction and driving M&A. His responsibilities also included leading the global marketing organization (CMO) and the technology Centers of Excellence. He grew the business to $3B through organic initiatives and M&A. Prior, he served as President of Casi-Rusco, Inc., a $60M, stand-alone GE Company and led its significant business turnaround, achieving record sales and profit under his leadership. Prior to GE, Juan was the General Manager for the Software Products Division and Vice President, Corporate Development for Reciprocal, Inc. an early stage B2B internet security company, acquired by Microsoft. Previously, Juan served as Vice President of business development at multi-billion dollar Tivoli Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of IBM. During his tenure there, Juan provided leadership in technology and business acquisitions, international licensing and reseller agreements. Prior to that, Juan was at IBM where he served in multiple executive, operational and General Manager roles including IBM Software Group Strategy Executive, Product Development Executive, General Manager Custom Software and Enterprise Solutions, General Manager Compatibility, Design & Verification Services, and Communications Systems Business Line Executive.
