Founded in 2011, the DeLeon Springs Community Association, Inc. (DSCA) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in DeLeon Springs, Florida. Originally emerging from the DeLeon Springs Merchant's Association, DSCA aims to foster community improvement and prosperity. With a mission statement that centers on 'making DeLeon Springs a better place to live, work, and play', the association focuses on economic and cultural advancement while preserving the area’s rural charm and agricultural heritage. DSCA has successfully spearheaded numerous initiatives, including establishing annual events like the "Art Among The Trees" Fine Arts Festival and the "Autumn in The Oaks" festival. In collaboration with Volusia County, DSCA assisted in creating a district overlay allowing for improved zoning and initiated significant environmental efforts such as the LEAD 1 and LEAD 2 Brownfield Designations to protect local resources. Committed to community service, DSCA manages a Head Start Clothing and Food Pantry, distributes Thanksgiving baskets, supports troops through various programs, and works on initiatives like Cell Phones for Soldiers. Beyond economic development, they focus on environmental stewardship by advocating for the conservation of DeLeon Springs' natural treasures through education and awareness campaigns. The organization's leadership is spearheaded by Amy K Munizzi as President and Tammy S Schuler as Treasurer, among other dedicated officers and directors who drive these impactful community endeavors. DSCA operates with significant volunteer involvement from local citizens, reinforcing communal spirit and civic responsibility.
