Defenders of Crooked Lake, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the natural beauty, water purity, ecological value, and quality of living associated with Crooked Lake in Babson Park, Florida. Since its incorporation on June 3, 1970, the mission of DoCL has been to foster protection, preservation, and enhancement efforts aimed at maintaining one of Florida’s few remaining pristine freshwater lakes. The organization collaborates with governmental agencies, private foundations, corporations, elected officials, and individuals to achieve goals related to preserving Crooked Lake and its surrounding areas. A significant part of DoCL's mission is addressing pollution sources such as sediment erosion from disturbed land, which affects water turbidity, light transmission, aquatic organisms, and transports other pollutants.
