A year into the new millenium, David found himself back in Morgantown, WV working again (for the fourth time—the first three times were part-time during high school) for the Coombs family, specifically the matriarch, at Racer Productions—an off-road motorcycle event promoter. There he created: newspaper ads, posters, flyers, stickers, and the second installment of gnccracing.com, the first two renditions of racerproductions.com, and the original mxsports.com websites. A couple of years later, he moved to the other side of the office and worked for one of the sons, at his expanding motocross publication, . David’s early years there were devoted to assisting the designer; updating recurring columns in the magazine each month, designing a couple features, writing CD reviews, writing captions for Pit Pass (faces-in-the-crowd section), designing sections of the programs, and hucking merch at many racing events. Shortly thereafter, he added Prepress Manager to his business card, as he processed incoming ads in addition to being Assistant Graphic Designer. In the Fall of 2013, David added Program Manager to his résumé, as he was the quarterback for seven event programs—doling out assignments to four writers, 2.5 designers, a couple of promoters, and processed the accompanying ads. In July 2014, he added Production Manager to his duties, and got out of the design arena. As PM, he created page counts for the magazine and programs based on ad/edit ratios, schemed which ad or edit item was to run on each page, hunted down delinquent ads, and processed those ads once they were received.
