Kaplan Company was formed in 1989 and for the past 28 years has developed and/or leased properties for third party owners and provided retail real estate services to upscale retailers and restaurants looking to expand throughout the United States. Kaplan’s expertise provided successful ventures for many clients. Some of his notable leasing projects include Time Warner Center, New York, NY; Downtown at the Gardens, Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and The Village at Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach, FL. Ground up development projects include Georgia Square, Athens GA; Naples Center in Naples, FL; and Novi Promenade in Novi, MI. From 2009-2016 Kaplan was a Partner at Collarmele Partners, a boutique development and leasing company. Kaplan was involved with Master Planning projects in Panama City, Panama and Los Angeles as well as leasing Yorktown Center in Chicago and West Oaks Mall in Houston. Prior to the formation of his own company, Darryl Kaplan served as Executive Vice President and Director of Leasing at Leonard L. Farber Incorporated. Farber, founder of the ICSC, developed the first enclosed mall in the country to include Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Kaplan was responsible for leasing The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, one of the forerunner projects in the country that combined luxury department stores and upscale fashion boutiques which became one of the top 5 malls in the United States. Tenants locating for the first time in Florida at The Galleria included Carnegie Deli, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic and Brookstone.
