We only use quality parts in our rebuilds to ensure that your vehicle is as safe and reliable as the vehicles we transport our own family in. We understand that your time is extremely valuable. At Dan’s we take the time to inspect all your transmission parts and the components that can negatively affect your transmission prior to calling for authorization for repairs. This helps to ensure that there are no hidden delays to your repairs. We do not cut corners on our repairs. If parts are worn or damaged they are replaced. We give your vehicle the time and attention to detail that it deserves. This to ensure that your repair far exceeds our standard warranty and “We Keep You Moving”. Dan’s Transmission Center is named in memory of April’s brother Daniel G. Caillouet, who passed in April of 2011. Dan moved his family to Tampa Bay in 2005, with the dream of creating a brighter future for them in the sunshine state. Unfortunately, he was not able to see the dream come to fruition. We opened Dan’s to build a better future for all the children in the family, and to build a business that they can grow into as they transition into adulthood, as Dan would have wanted. Co- Owner and Master Technician is Joey, he has over 30 years of Transmission and Driveline repair experience. He will take the guess work out of your repair. With extensive knowledge of transmissions and their components he will diagnosis your vehicle and provide you with an honest estimate and your options for repair. April, our Co-Owner, Service Writer and Office Manager has 17 years of business and office management experience. Her customer service and sales experience ensure that you and your vehicle will be well cared for from start to finish and beyond. Denise is here to help us with the day to day tasks that help us keep you moving! She is instrumental in helping the shop run smoothly and efficiently. She does everything from courtesy transportation to taking care of our boys, while we concentrate on you and your repair needs. I highly recommend Dan's Transmission Center. I had my 2005 Acura MDX towed into Dan's at 3:45pm on Jan 22nd. Transmission acted up earlier that day and I lost most of the transmission fluid. By about 6pm Joey called and had determined one of the lines carrying transmission fluid to the radiator had broken off thus causing my fluid loss. My 13 year old MDX needed a new radiator as a result. Joey replaced the radiator the next day and the thermostat which was stuck in the open position, filled it with transmission fluid and engine coolant and test drove it. I picked up my vehicle the next morning and it has been running great ever since. I'm a snowbird and had never needed this sort of service since we've been spending winters in the New Port Richey area. I found Dan's online and all the reviews were very positive (unlike what I saw about the Honda and Acura dealerships in the area!). So I gave Dan's a try and I was very satisfied and highly recommend them. The work was done promptly, thoroughly, and at a fair price. They get 5 Stars from me! I am not one to write reviews!! But.... I honestly have to say that Dans Transmission has been great to work with. He informed me every step of the way, went into detail with what he was as doing with my Honda Pilot . I am very impressed with them. Went over and beyond what I expected And when my car broke down with my two daughters in it yesterday. He had a tow truck to them within a hour to help. He treats my family like his family and I will be forever grateful! I just had a full overhaul of my 2007 Saturn Outlook with the 6 speed automatic. It lasted 170k miles so I cant complain too much. It was shuddering in the 2-3 shift at light throttle. Took it to Dans Transmissions and spoke with Joey regarding diagnosis and potential repair. He laid out everything ahead of time regarding cost break down as much as he could. Obviously in most cases you wont know the true cost until the transmission is disassembled and inspected. However Joey stated the cost to test drive, remove and inspect the trans was going to be $400 (this was for my vehicle, others may vary, talk to Joey). If I elected to just have everything reassembled and fix nothing the cost would be $400. I found this to be very reasonable considering the amount of labor involved. Offering this info ahead of time also signaled to me that Joey would not be using the tactics that many other trans shops use by disassembling and holding you hostage. So I decided to go with Joey. A word about transmission repair and transmission shops. There is a reason why there are shops that specialize in transmissions. Most mechanical work on cars is relatively simple, even engine work. There are many methods and tools to diagnose general car problems with a high degree of accuracy. This is less true with transmissions and transmissions are very complex and growing more complex each year. Transmission techs must be very very detail oriented, focused and organized to have a high degree of success when diagnosing and repairing transmissions. Experience in the type of transmission you need worked on is another must. Especially with all these new 6 and 8 speed transmissions.The average garage mechanic will not work here and it would be a mistake to assume a general garage can handle transmission work. You will just end up in a deeper bind. Get it done once and get it done by someone who is capable of doing it the first try. Second thing is cost. There is a tremendous amount of labor in transmission work. Its rarely cheap. But transmission work is one area its important not to skimp on. It will just end up costing more in the long run. Having said that I found Dans/Joey final bill for a full overhaul, replace rear main seal and other small things to be very very reasonable with no surprises at the end. He offered a 12 month 12k mile warranty and I have every reason to believe he will honor that warranty based on what I observed regarding his ethics and professionalism and high level of organization. Very happy with Dans Transmissions and in particular Joey and his family (its a family effort). I will be bringing any transmission work there for the future and recommending them to friends and family. Thanks guys!
