DAMN AM, LLC is a globally recognized amateur skateboarding contest series, founded in 2001 by the Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT). Its primary aim has been to expand on the experiences of its predecessor, Tampa Am, by taking competitions worldwide. Over two decades, DAMN AM events have featured over 5,000 participants, including many top professional skaters, establishing it as the premier contest series for amateur skateboarders globally. The series functions as a qualifying platform not just to Tampa Am but also to the SLS Pro Open. Inaugurated in Volcom's parking lot with Dylan Rieder capturing victory in its debut event, DAMN AM has grown to host contests across various major cities including Shanghai, Amsterdam, and São Paulo. The 2018 series introduced its first event in Japan. Participation is open to skaters who meet outlined criteria, emphasizing inclusivity for all genders. Each contest typically comprises around 100 competitors over multiple days, with qualifying rounds adopting a jam format and final runs awarded on numerous objective and subjective parameters evaluated by a panel of well-respected skateboarding judges. Performance in these contests significantly impacts opportunities at subsequent Tampa Am events. DAMN AM OF THE YEAR recognitions are awarded to skaters achieving strong performances over several stops, with the New York City event offering the coveted final qualification opportunity.
