Further, we have learned that a fictitious company, using names very similar to ours – for example, “Crystal Cruises Inc.—, “Crystal Cruises Inc— and “Crystal cruises Inc— – is emailing individuals and making unauthorized offers of employment to work on the cruise ships operated by Crystal Cruises, Inc. See http://www.cruiselinesjobs.com/cruise-ship-jobs-scam/. Crystal Cruises, Inc. has no knowledge of, or connection with, this fictitious company.
In the initial email, these individuals claim they are offering employment on the cruise ships operated by Crystal Cruises, Inc. Once the prospective employee responds to this email offer, s/he is asked to complete a “job application,— which seeks private background information about the prospective employee. After submitting the completed job application, the prospective employee receives an “employment letter— purportedly from Crystal Cruises, Inc. The prospective employee is then instructed to pay for a Merchant Mariner’s Document (MMD) – also known as Z-card – and an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) from a company called UK OPERATION AGENCY. Crystal Cruises, Inc. has no knowledge of, or connection with, UK OPERATION AGENCY. We have recently learned that a fictitious company that refers to itself as “Australia Cruise Line International,— “Crystal Cruise Line Australia,— “Crystal Cruise Line (Sydney)— and “Crystal Cruise Line [Sydney] Australia— is emailing individuals and making unauthorized offers of employment on the cruise ships operated by Crystal Cruises.

These emails appear to be targeting persons who reside in South African. In the initial email, these individuals claim that “Crystal Cruise Line [Sydney]— is offering employment on the cruise ships operated by Crystal Cruises. Once the prospective employee responds to this email offer, s/he is asked to complete a “job application,— which seeks private background information about the prospective employee. After submitting the completed job application, the prospective employee receives an “employment contract— purportedly from Crystal Cruises and a “letter of invitation— in order to process his or her “Australian Visa and Residence Working Permit.— Based on our discussions with the appropriate authorities, we understand there is a significant likelihood that the perpetrators of this scam are using the prospective employee’s private background information for illegal purposes and/or eventually demanding money from the prospective employee, claiming it is necessary in order to process her “Visa.—

Applicants are directed in later correspondence to submit copies of their passports and to remit USD 600 to a purported “representative immigration lawyer,— Najib Bin Reasli & Associates, for the alleged processing of their work permit in Malaysia. The “Appointment Letters— claiming to be from Crystal Cruises’ Human Resources department are signed by individuals using the names Chong Tung (claiming to be the Chief Executive Officer of “Crystal Cruise Line International—) and Kelvin Tan (claiming to be the “Head H.R. Department.—)
