In the initial email, these individuals claim they are offering employment on the cruise ships operated by Crystal Cruises, Inc. Once the prospective employee responds to this email offer, s/he is asked to complete a “job application,— which seeks private background information about the prospective employee. After submitting the completed job application, the prospective employee receives an “employment letter— purportedly from Crystal Cruises, Inc. The prospective employee is then instructed to pay for a Merchant Mariner’s Document (MMD) – also known as Z-card – and an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) from a company called UK OPERATION AGENCY. Crystal Cruises, Inc. has no knowledge of, or connection with, UK OPERATION AGENCY.
