All Scripture profits the daily life, and we firmly espouse Christianity as a way of life, not a mere creed. God’s character is reflected in the way He expects us to live. By our living righteously, ethically, and holy, we reflect God’s character to others. He says if we do not live according to His plan, we are liars and are not His children. Romans 12:1,2; 14:16-18; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20; Ephesians 5:1-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12; 1 Peter 1:13-14; 1 John 1:5-10
The Scriptures tell us that we have an obligation and a mission to go out from among ourselves to share the good news of salvation. The Scriptures tell us where to teach the gospel: starting locally and extending to the far ends of the world. They tell us what to teach: the law as a mirror and grace through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross and in the power of His resurrection; baptism; and living all that Christ taught. They tell us how to teach: gently instructing, remembering that outsiders are captives of Satan. Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 2:24-26; Romans 10:1-15; Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:17; Romans 6:14; Galatians 2:21; 5:22-23
WE BELIEVE that only the sixty-six books of the Bible are the inspired, and therefore inerrant, Word of God. It is the final authority for all we believe and how we are to live. Matthew 5:18; John 10:35; 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
WE BELIEVE that the one true God exists eternally in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these, being one God, are equal in deity, power, and glory. We believe that God created the world as the Genesis account of creation records, the account being neither allegory nor myth, but a literal, historical account of the direct, immediate creative acts of the Trinity without any evolutionary process. God now upholds, sustains, governs, and providentially directs all that exists, and He will bring all things to their proper consummation in Christ Jesus to the glory of His name. He is unchangeable in all of His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. He is the sovereign Ruler of the universe. Genesis 1 and 2; Psalm 33:9; 104; 139; Matthew 10:29-31; 28:19; John 1:3; Acts 17:24-28; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 1:9-12; 4:4-6; Colossians 1:16-17; Hebrews 1:1-3; 11:3; Revelation 1:4-6
WE BELIEVE that upon belief in the Lord Jesus Christ believers are baptized in the Holy Spirit, in whom also we are sealed for the day of redemption. In relation to the unbelieving world, the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness and judgment. He is the agent of the new birth, and His work among believers includes His sealing, indwelling, infilling, guiding, and teaching them. He graciously equips the Christian for godly living and service and anoints and empowers believers for ministry and witness. We also believe He gifts believers as He will with gifts described in the New Testament; such gifts are designed to testify to the presence of the kingdom and to empower and edify the church to fulfill its calling and mission. Matthew 3:11; John 1:12-13; 3:1-15; 7:39; 14:16; 17:26; Acts 1:5; Romans 8:9; 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Galatians 3:1-5; Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:7-11; 5:18; Hebrews 2:3-4; 9:14; Revelation 22:18-19
WE BELIEVE that the church must be considered in two aspects: the Church universal and the local church. The Church universal is the entire company of believers in Christ, past, present, and future. The local church is God’s primary instrument through which He is fulfilling His redemptive purposes in the earth. It is a congregation of believers who are baptized, associate together, observe the ordinances, are governed by God’s Word. The local church is given leaders to equip the saints for the work of ministry. According to the Scriptures, church leaders are pastors (elders), deacons, and deaconesses. We also affirm the priesthood of all believers and the importance of every Christian being joined with and actively involved in a local community of the saints. We believe that women, no less than men, are called and gifted to proclaim the gospel and do all the works of the kingdom. However, final governmental authority in the church has ideally been entrusted to men as pastors, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the epistles to Timothy and Titus. Matthew 16:17-19; 28:19-20; Acts 1:5; 2:1-4, 17-18,42; 8:36-39; 10:44-48; 11:15-16; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22-23; 3:14-21; 4:11-16; 1 Timothy 2:11-15; Titus 1:5; Hebrews 10:23-25; 12:23; 1 Peter 2:4-5, 9-10
WE BELIEVE that the home was the first institution God provided for man and that marriage is a sacred relationship and honorable for all. Marriage is used as a symbol of Christ and the church, with the husband exhibiting extreme love to his wife, and the wife exhibiting honor and respect for her husband. Marriage is defined as one man and one woman joined in Christ for life. Any sexual relationship outside of this union is sin, and we challenge each believer to be particularly aware of thought life and other footholds in which Satan would delight. Genesis 1:27-28; 2:18-24; Mark 10:9; 1 Corinthians 7:2; Ephesians 5:21, 23
