I'm Judy Crest and along with Dave Florence we launched Crest Legacies Inc. in early 2010 as a video production company specializing in personal video biographies.  The formal creation of the company was the culmination of a multi-year process that started when I was writing my own memoir.  Time constraints imposed by my everyday life as a small business owner and sizable family care responsibilities, limited my ability to apply the time needed for writing.  I mentioned this to my friend and gym partner, Dave Florence, and after some discussion we came up with the idea of recording my memoir on video. Stories, information, and advice were prepared and recorded in three to 10 minute increments as my schedule permitted.  At the end it would be compiled onto a DVD.  This also provided the ability for me to add treasured pictures and clips from old home movies, to the vignettes.  As we recorded my stories we realized what a fun and fruitful endeavor it was, but concluded that instead of sitting in front of the camera alone, as I had been doing, it would be even more productive to prepare a discussion or topic list ahead of time and record the stories as an interview.  This is the format we have subsequently used when capturing other people's stories. I'm Dave Florence and I've been making and editing movies, sound recordings and video recordings since I was a teenager in the 1970's.  Prior to my collaboration with Judy, I had spent a great deal of time (going back to 2001) digitally restoring and repairing old photographs, home movies and old video recordings. This work included editing the often times shaky and jerky video shots into smoother, easier to watch footage, and then applying lighting and color correction, and sound editing to enhance the clarity of what people were saying. The resulting videos were much better paced, more thoroughly engaged the viewer, and were more enjoyable to watch. In early 2010, following Judy's project and others that built on the knowledge and skills we had developed, we launched Crest Legacies Inc.  Based in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, we provide a broad range of video production and post-production services but specialize in personal video memoirs, family biographies, video memorials of loved ones and family event videos. The lives of our parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles have shaped us into the people that we are just as our lives influence our children.  The lives of our ancestors are important to us just as our lives are important to those that follow us.
