CONVOY OF HOPE, INC., SPRINGFIELD

Convoy of Hope was founded in 1994 by the Donaldson family. Their inspiration for starting the organization can be traced back to the many people who helped their family after their father, Harold, was killed by a drunk driver in 1969. Today, more than people have been served throughout the world by Convoy of Hope. We are proud that we work through churches, businesses, government agencies and other nonprofits to provide help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting. Our Mission Our Mission Convoy of Hope is a faith-based, nonprofit organization with a driving passion to feed the world through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches and disaster response. While we began feeding children in Haiti in 2007, our program expanded immensely following the 2010 earthquake. After the disaster struck, we were on the ground immediately providing relief to survivors, including children. Alongside our partners at Mission of Hope, we’re feeding 90,704 children at 386 program centers. Haiti was also the pilot country for our Agricultural Initiative. Through this initiative, we’re educating rural farmers who are producing crops and bettering their lives and the lives of hungry children. We began feeding children in El Salvador in 2007 and the initiative has seen positive growth in the years since. Currently 16,140 children are being fed at 79 program centers in El Salvador. We also piloted our Mothers’ Club program in this country, through which we provide poverty-stricken mothers with entrepreneurial skills they use to earn a living and provide for their families. Since 2014, we have worked with local partners to provide vital resources to refugees fleeing Syria including food, heaters, newborn health kits, hygiene kits, coats and more. In 2016, we were able to implement an emergency-based feeding program in Lebanon serving 650 Lebanese and Syrian refugee children at two schools and refugee camps. We will continue to work with our partners in the area to serve even more children and families in these war-torn communities.
