I designed Comprehensive Parenting Solutions (CPS) to help families who are struggling with significant behavior problems in their children, especially those with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD). I have worked with children and families for more than 35 years and during that time, I developed a special interest in children with challenging behaviors and their families. I started looking at why these behaviors occur, what might work to help, and what help was available for parents. I was shocked to find how little there was. I decided to use all of the information I had gathered to create and test a parenting program specifically for parents of children with autism who are high functioning. The results of this research were promising so I used this information and refined the techniques to create CPS. Although the initial focus was autism, the program can be used for children who have ADHD or any significant behavior problems. This individualized program can help you understand your child’s behavior, recognize what might be contributing to the behaviors, work to prevent these behaviors in the home, and learn how to help your child settle down if the behaviors do occur. Comprehensive Parenting Solutions (CPS) is designed to meet the needs of parents of children who have significant behavior problems in the home, especially those with autism or ADHD. CPS is not therapy, but an individualized parenting program. It is not intended to take the place of any therapies you or your child are currently receiving, but may be a helpful addition.
