Propane Provider COMO Keys Propane is a full-service propane company that is locally owned and operated in Key West. We firmly believe that competition brings customers the best possible service at the best possible price. In the past, the Florida Keys had only two propane companies, both national, with no personal connection to the Keys. We would like to offer you a new, LOCAL alternative. Richard Manley and Erik DeBoer (of Manley-DeBoer Lumber Company and The Marquesa Hotel), have partnered with Como Oil & Propane, a family-owned business with a 50-year history in South Florida, to create a new local propane company serving the Keys. Our partnership is built on our shared values of fair pricing and exceptional customer service. Como Oil & Propane was founded in 1946 in Northern Minnesota by Myles Hall. He opened shop with one truck, a handful of customers, and a dedication to serving the community. Myles expanded his operation to Fort Lauderdale in 1967, bringing his Midwestern values to sunny South Florida. As the company continued to grow, Myles moved the headquarters to Palm City. In 1980, Myles son, Robert, took over the company. Robert continued to expand the company with the opening of the Vero Beach branch in 2005. Como is still family owned and operated, now in it’s third generation of leadership, and services more than 8,000 propane customers from Melbourne to Boca Raton. Richard Manley and Erik deBoer formed their long-lived partnership in 1980 beginning with Manley-deBoer General Contractors, which operated in the Lower Keys for 17 years. In 1987 their experience in converting deteriorated historic buildings into small hotels and guesthouses led directly to their acquisition and development of the Marquesa Hotel on Fleming St. in Key West, which they have operated continuously for the past 30 years. In 1997, Manley and deBoer acquired the Strunk Lumber Yard and formed Manley deBoer Lumber Company. Today, Manley deBoer Lumber Company has two lumber yards in Key West and Big Pine Key.
