Ana was born and raised in Ecuador and moved to Tampa, FL when she was 17 years old. After completing High School, she joined the military and served for four years in the Marine Corps while attending school and completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She went on to complete her graduate studies at the University of South Florida obtaining a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. She also married into a different culture than her own, and is trying to raise two sons within these two different cultures. Her personal experience of moving from a country with a different culture and language, entering the military, as well as marriage and raising two sons with two different cultures have taught her how difficult life transitions can be in our mental and physical health, and how our environment can add stressors that can make transitions more challenging for us. She also learned how each of us is capable of learning new skills and tools that can help us grow, adapt and consequently reach peace and happiness. Ana specializes in working with multicultural couples, whether they’re from different countries, religions, or race. She helps individuals from different cultures create healthy relationships filled with trust and understanding. Ana is the past president of the Her training in counseling and specialization in marriage and family therapy allows her to asses the complexity of problems and help find solutions from different perspectives.
