COLTS Laboratories - the test of excellence and expertise COLTS Laboratories, was founded out of a need for standardized performance testing and confidential test results. The facility opened its doors back in 1997, in Clearwater, Florida. When it comes to the optical industry, COLTS Laboratories is one of the most trusted testing centers in the country. They were so successful at this they they are now instrumental in the development of performance testing now used internationally. They may have started out with only basic lens testing services and 4 eager employees,but COLTS Laboratories now has 17 employees and offers ophthalmic lens, frame, cleaning cloth, lens cleaner, lens packaging, equipment and associated product testing. In addition, COLTS Laboratories also offers a complete line of face and eyewear protective device testing, and as an an accredited laboratory it offers testing for these products from all over the world as well as selling the test equipment itself. John is an Engineer and Optician who's been active in many areas of the optical industry including engineering, research and development, and quality control. He has five patents for the design of optical lenses and devices, and has authored more than 100 published articles and papers and lectures around the country. He received the 1992 Man of the Year Award from the National Academy of Opticianry and the first President's Award from the Opticians Association of America in 1994 for his dedication to the advancement of education. In 2005 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Optometric Association's, Association of Schools and Colleges. John founded COLTS Laboratories in 1997 Kimberly has over 20 years in the optical industry and has been at COLTS since it was founded in 1997 and has intricate knowledge of all aspects of the business. She has held a variety of positions at COLTS. She has extensive experience in accounting, human resources, marketing, quality systems, customer service, business development, long range strategic planning. Dale has 25 years experience in the optical industry. He has extensive experience in wholesale laboratories including management. Over the past 13 years with COLTS he has built testing equipment, trained technicians and conducted educational classes for customers. He has been involved with developing procedures and reports in accordance with industry standards. In his current position he is responsible for assisting clients with Personal Protection Equipment testing submission and helping clients understand the standards, and clarification on all Eye and Face Protection testing. Dale has over 30 years of experience in manufacturing serving in both Quality and Production positions. 17 of these years was in the optical industry working for a major lens manufacturer as a Quality Manager / Quality Engineer. Dale's experiences and skills cover a wide range of areas: Product and process validations, Process Control, Quality System development and management, Quality Systems auditing, Test Lab auditing, Certification program development, Inspection and Test methods, Statistical Data Analysis, and Continuous Improvement methods. His many years in the optical industry have provided him with a good knowledge of customer expectations and satisfaction. Dale's responsibilities include, test development, quality system management, auditing. We are currently staffed with 5 highly experienced Certified Opticians.
