Mission
The Community Foundation was incorporated in 1985 by local visionaries who believed that a community foundation in Naples, like foundations in other cities across the country, could help charitable-minded people create legacies for the immediate and future needs of the area.
William Oberhelman, a retired businessman from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Donald T. Franke, a well-known Naples attorney, combined resources and formed a Board of like-minded citizens and raised $300,000 to fund the fledgling organization’s permanent charitable endowment. Bill Oberhelman was named executive director and Don Franke continued as chairman of the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Their dedicated efforts in the early years of the Foundation ensured a perpetual source of income to meet the ever-changing needs of Collier County.
Growing For Good – In Good Company
All community foundations share the common goal of serving donors, nonprofit organizations, and the community as a whole. We are designed to pool charitable donations into a coordinated investment and distribute scholarships and grants dedicated to positive change of a particular county or region. Community foundations are a global phenomenon with 1500 existing around the world that manage over $40 billion in assets. Over 750 community foundations exist in the United States.
The CNA also moves beyond specifics to provide a broader analysis regarding foundational issues that impact the quality of life and assets found within the county.
We believe, by working together, we can make Collier County a place where all people have the opportunity to reach their full potential. A place where we all love to live. We can help you show your love for our community. We convene, collaborate and connect. For good. Forever.
