CLR ROASTERS LLC, Chula Vista

Developed by the Safe Quality Food Institute, the Safe Quality Food certification ensures that products abide by food safety and quality management standards. The USDA organic certification confirms that a product’s farm and/or handling facility complies with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s organic regulations. A Fair Trade certification emphasizes the importance of social, economic, and environmental standards to ensure safe working conditions, the support of communities’ businesses, and the use of environmentally friendly practices. Products created with a Fair Trade certification provide the jobs and business skills needed for more than 1.2 million farming families across Latin America, Africa and Asia to thrive. Separate from a Fair Trade certification, a Fairtrade International Certification carries a FAIRTRADE Mark, which signifies that a product meets a particular list of standards. These standards are part of an internationally agreed-upon list that applies to products, rather than companies, and provides benefits to small-scale farmers and workers in developing countries, as well as to consumers and the environment. A product’s Rainforest Alliance Certification declares that the farm or forest it is from has been successfully inspected and shown to meet environmental, economic, and social sustainability standards set by the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN). Our headquarters comprises over 40,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art facilities which affords us the ability to house our entire operation under one roof. Our raw material storage, roasting operations, packaging facility, distribution warehouse, customer service department, sales department and accounting department all work together cohesively to create an effectual production flow from raw material to finished product. We at CLR are owners of two plantations, wet and dry processing mills in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. This provides us with a competitive advantage in areas of pricing, supply, consistency, knowledge and quality. We at CLR are expanding to further our vertical integration strategy. Our strategic integration also includes a non-profit organization that benefits the farmers, workers, and families involved within our plantations and surrounding farms in Matagalpa, Nicaragua.
