CLEVELAND HEARTLAB, INC., CLEVELAND

Cleveland HeartLab offers innovative, scientifically proven, and medically relevant biomarkers that are predictive of cardiovascular risk. We offer inflammatory and other advanced biomarker testing that practitioners from across North America, Europe and Asia use in the management and prevention of heart disease. Our novel biomarker technologies are offered through our CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified clinical reference laboratory. We also run a research and development laboratory where next-generation cardiovascular disease biomarkers are being developed for use through our clinical laboratory. This valuable pipeline of tests is part of an exclusive intellectual property portfolio that targets large, under-addressed markets. : At the discretion of the Medical Director, Cleveland HeartLab may solicit other clinical laboratories to perform testing on our behalf. Under these circumstances, the performing lab may be indicated on the final report. Our Mission To be the premier cardiovascular testing provider. In support of our mission we have three key areas of focus: Cleveland HeartLab is an established, premier inflammation testing laboratory with the most experience in the field. Our scientifically-proven, peer-reviewed multi-marker approach of adding inflammation-specific tests to traditional lipid testing provides additional insight into an individual’s cardiovascular risk. In addition, our approach measures risk across a spectrum, allowing for long-mid-, and near-term assessment. This enables healthcare providers to identify ‘hidden risk’ and treat more aggressively when appropriate. Our testing is supported by over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Most recently, a seminal, peer-reviewed study published in the shows Cleveland HeartLab’s inflammation testing could reduce the average heart attack and stroke rate by approximately 10%. Over five years, this reduction would avert $187 million in healthcare costs for cardiovascular disease – the number one killer of men and women in the U.S. We are committed to educating healthcare providers and patients on the advancements in identifying cardiovascular risk. We organize signature CME-accredited events and local medical forums which attract hundreds of medical professionals from across the United States. Our clinical Education Team provides access to peer-to-peer support, the latest articles on the clinical utility of inflammatory biomarkers and individual case management support. We developed and provide a CME website for healthcare professionals ( Consider a career with Quest Diagnostics, and get personal satisfaction knowing the role you play makes the services that we provide, possible. Discover and deliver strategic healthcare technology solutions to foster better, more connected patient care and improve clients’ business performance. The blood vessels that feed your heart muscle and brain are called arteries. These arteries carry blood that is the “fuel supply” you need for life. The arteries that feed the heart muscle are called coronary arteries and provide blood to the heart muscle so that it can pump blood. When cholesterol and inflammation build up within the walls of your coronary arteries, it’s called coronary artery disease. The cholesterol injures the inside of the artery wall and your body tries to get rid of it in the same way it does a splinter in your finger. As you know, the inflammation that forms around the splinter can cause a painful, red sore. When cholesterol enters the wall of the artery, a sore forms inside the artery wall. When enough cholesterol accumulates, it may cause inflammation to the point it triggers a heart attack or stroke. Your doctor has probably tested your cholesterol levels to see if you are at a risk for a heart attack. If you have normal cholesterol levels you may assume you are not at risk for a heart attack or stroke. This is not always true. Approximately 50% of patients who experience a heart attack or stroke have normal cholesterol levels. So, what is driving these events to still happen? Researchers now understand that heart attacks and strokes happen because of inflammation in the artery. Measuring cholesterol without inflammation may only tell part of the story. Cholesterol testing provides part of the picture. Inflammation testing helps provide a more complete picture of Cleveland HeartLab’s inflammation tests can help YOU and your doctor have a better understanding of YOUR RISK of heart attack or stroke. Watch the Know Your Risk Video™ to learn more about how simple blood and urine tests help doctors assess inflammation so they have a more complete picture of your individual risk for a heart attack and stroke. Understand how doctors identify which patient is at risk based on inflammation test results. Cholesterol testing provides part of the picture. Inflammation testing provides a more complete picture of YOUR RISK for heart disease. Cleveland HeartLab offers simple blood and urine testing that provides you and your doctor information that may be used to help evaluate your risk for heart disease. These tests can be used alongside cholesterol testing to provide a more complete picture of YOUR RISK for heart disease. The following tests may help to identify your early risk for disease: and MPO provides additional stratification of risk for plaque rupture beyond that of using each biomarker individually. Cleveland HeartLab offers advanced lipid testing to aid in determining cardiovascular risk in patients, alongside a Standard Lipid Panel which is commonly performed at least once a year in most medical practices. While a Standard Lipid Panel provides cholesterol and triglyceride measurements, other measurements readily available can address additional risk factors for disease including the number of atherogenic particles, the size of these particles and the inherent risk of developing CVD. LDL, which carries “bad” cholesterol, exists either as large, more buoyant particles or as smaller, more dense particles (sdLDL). sdLDL is more easily oxidized, has a higher affinity for vessel walls, and remains in the circulation longer because it is less likely to be cleared by the liver, making it more atherogenic than larger LDL particles.
