Clearwater Canvas Clearwater Canvas, winner of 11 National Fabrication Excellence Awards from the Marine Fabricators Association, has been creating custom marine canvas in the Clearwater, Florida area since 1987. Now retired from this part of the business, the company’s founder and owner, Tom Hunter, MFC, is a Certified Master Craftsman by the Industrial Fabrics Association International. During our 29 years of fabricating we created all types of marine covers including EZ2CY, Strataglass enclosures and stainless steel tops such as biminis, convertible tops, dodgers and rear sun shades. We focused on using only top quality products such as Sunbrella and Stamoid marine fabrics, PTFE (Teflon) thread, stainless steel frames and hardware. PRODUCTS Along with our equipment line we carry 3 publications written specifically for a marine canvas fabrication business. Written by successful industry professionals, these books will assist a business in increasing its abilities and level of craftsmanship, increasing sales and profitability and marketing strategies. Clearwater Canvas opened for business in 1987 and specialized in marine canvas and frame bending and was considered a leader in the marine canvas industry. Now retired from this part of the business, the company’s founder, Tom Hunter, is a Master Fabric Craftsman certified by the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI). He is past Chairman of the Board for the Marine Fabricators Association (MFA), a division of the IFAI and holds a BS degree in Engineering from Northeastern University. His expertise is frequently called upon as a speaker at MFA seminars and conventions both regionally and nationally. Tom is also the recipient of eleven National Fabrication Excellence Awards for the Company’s projects , a cloud-based innovative simple-to-use software program that takes the guesswork out of building boat top frames.
