I am a 36 yr old man who recently left his job to explore my passions in video production, travel and food. I was tired of working for someone else and not having full control of my income. Ever since college I have worked very hard for large and small companies in professional sales only to come to the same conclusion; they want you to work 24/7 for them no matter what you have going on in your life, its frowned upon to take vacation and you have less control than you think you do.
It’s not like my entire work experience was bad though. I did meet some great people and built some strong relationships. I learned how to work really hard, think outside the box and evolve my education through traditional and nontraditional ways. My past work experience has provided me with the finances to enjoy my hobbies, travel abroad and most importantly take some time off to pursue my dream to work for myself.
You see, I started my career bright eyed and bushy tailed right out of college. I worked really hard only to be let down by the company many times over the years. Eventually my distain for the company’s direction and decision grew so heavy I hated going to work every day. We have all seen those movies were the main character hears the alarm go off, exhales a deep breath as they prepare for a long day they already know is not going to be fun. That was me. I dreaded doing to work each and every day. It got to the point that I hated hearing or seeing anything related to my field of work on TV.
When I was most unhappy with my career I started to think there had to be another way to make a living, be happy doing it and do it my way. I didn’t want to take a job for the money. I wanted to be happy. So I took a leap of faith and decided that I would give it a shot. See I recently got married and wanted to start a family. I knew that if I continued to wait it would only be harder later on in life. Making a career change too late in life is not impossible but would be more difficult. I knew I could always go back to working for a company however if I didn’t try to make it on my own I would always be unhappy and contemplate what could have been. I could not go back to working for someone unless I knew I gave it all I had and failed doing so. I was not scared to failure but scared not to at least try.
So here I am, a 36 yr old mechanical engineer starting a blog to promote lifestyle topics on travel, food and technology. Sharing my view of the world through my Vlogs on my YouTube channel and creatively expressing myself through short movies. I guess what ties it all together is my love and interest in video production and creation. I am not sure how this life change will turn out or if anyone is listening out there, but I am going to do my best. I am sure my blog, Vlog and topics will evolve as I progress through this challenging time in my life. I hope people will find them interesting and follow me along my journey.
Athens is the capital and largest city in Greece. With 1,000’s of years of history ruled by many cultures over it’s time, Greece can be fun and exciting but also overwhelming. Because Athens is the central hub for Greece it is usually the gateway to anyone one of the many beautiful islands surrounding it. Many of the international flights land here first. If you are just passing through Athens and you want to make the most of your time then this list of my favorite things to do in Athens will help you experience the beauty this city has to offer.
