She is a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian as well as a mother of 2 wonderful sons and numerous 4 legged children. Dr. Maria is a 1988 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, but is truly a lifetime student going way above and beyond the required continuing education classes and conferences every year. The time and caring attention she gives each Client Family Member and their Furry Family Members, here at the Chasewood Animal Hospital Family, is exceptional in the veterinary world. Coming home to Dr. Maria for your pet's veterinary care is a memorable family experience. We use this therapy after surgeries to help decrease healing time, as well as therapeutically to help decrease the pain of arthritis, back pain, and muscle strains. Laser surgery provides a less painful method of performing routine and specialty surgeries. In addition to being less painful there is less bleeding when a laser is used and pets recover to normal activity sooner. Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen. Although most pet owners would rather not prolong contact with their pet's feces, sneaking an occasional peak can provide valuable clues about your furry friend's health and habits. Feces never smell good, but some bowel movements smell worse than others. All stools have an odor, but the smell shouldn't be overwhelming if your pet is healthy. Pet's thrive on a diet high in proteins and nutrients. Unfortunately, not all pet foods are good for your pet. Foods that contain lots of fillers, such as cereal by-products, corn and rice bran, corn starch, citrus pulp and oat hulls, are more likely to cause shedding. The healthiest pet foods list poultry, beef or chicken or other proteins in the first few ingredients on the label. Before you make a change to your pet's diet, talk to the veterinarian. Diets that are popular with people, such as vegetarian or gluten-free diets, may not be the best choices for your pet. Did you use your shampoo on your dog after you ran out of pet shampoo? Your shampoo is harsher than products intended for pets and may cause hair loss.
