Sylvester Chang is a mechanic's mechanic. He has been around town for some time. Although his business has grown, he is always at the shop, is always available to the customers, and always gives each customer personal attention. Even when you slip in late on a Saturday for a quick oil change, he will try and fit you in and do the job right. Sylvester Chang opened this mechanic shop in 1981, I believe, and developed a reputation in this town for being a man of his word, and a mechanic who wouldn't take you for a ride. At one time, he and his shop were responsible for a whole fleet of trucks and vehicles employed by a large, local glass company. Because I have since become acquainted with the previous owner of that glass company and his family, I have come to know the high regard they have for Sylvester and his integrity. His son, Sheldon, has taken over the responsibility and the work-philosophy of the shop and, along with Sonny, the Shop Coordinator, and Manuel, the primary Mechanic, they are fully continuing the legacy that Sylvester started. These are guys who know their stuff, are friendly, and understand the power of referral business. I heard about Chang's Car Care from a rather discriminating friend of mine some years ago, and have been very glad to have had these men service my vehicles since then. Sylvester, Sheldon, Sonny, and Manuel have all done things that demonstrate that they're not just interested in your vehicle - they're interested in you and how you feel your car is being maintained. How many mechanic shops have you ever taken your car to, only to receive a hand-signed "Thank-you for letting us serve you!" note in the mail a few days afterwards? This shop handles Electrical, Carburetor, Fuel Injection, Tune-ups, Alignment, A/C work, Tires and Batteries, Brake Service, and Computer Diagnostics. If you are looking for other vehicle-maintenance shops in this area to use, here's a company I feel very confident recommending to you. In closing, I'll share one of many anecdotes that have come from my past interaction with Chang's Car Care. A friend of mine had an older vehicle with increasing engine trouble. It had gotten to the point where it was hardly driveable. He took it to one local shop, only to have them tell him that the engine was totally shot, compression was in the basement, so the engine would have to be replaced. He took it to Chang's for a second opinion, and they discovered that it only needed a few minor parts and a tune-up. He drove it away from their shop with a deep sense of gratitude and respect for his treatment - and with a great deal more money in his wallet than he thought he'd have! My wife and I are new in town and needed to find a good, HONEST local family owned shop where we could get our vehicles serviced. Since I have listened and laughed at the radio show, "Car Talk", for some 20 years, I figured I would consult their website for a recommendation. I found a local shop that had the most positive reviews and off I went. I was greeted with a smile, explained the problem I was having, and was surprised to find that they actually listened and looked at the car immediately while I waited. They explained my options and I decided to have them fix the vehicle. It had to be left overnight and when I went back the next day they decided that a battery that I had purchased from another auto parts store was defective. I needed to go and get a replacement. I did so, but I'm a bit impatient and they accommodated me by putting me at the head of the line. They made me feel like I was a long time customer even though it was my first time there and that I was the only one waiting for my vehicle to be fixed even though the shop was full of other vehicles. I took my vehicle back for some routine maintenance today. They offered to give me a ride back to my house so I did not need to have someone follow me over. When I picked my vehicle up, they even vacuumed it out. Now THAT is what I call service!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both times I used Chang's, I feel as if they took the time to LISTEN to what I needed and treated me as if I was a long time customer. All I can say about Chang's is that if you live anywhere even remotely close and take your car anywhere else your making a BIG mistake. I highly recommend this business! Welcome to Chang's Car Care.
