I grew up in Castle Rock and graduated from Douglas County High School, after which I worked at a large retail store. I then attended and graduated from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. My education continued at Metropolitan State College of Denver, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in business education, allowing me to pursue my passion of teaching.  I did several long-term substitute postions in the fields of math, swimming and lifeguard training, but felt I needed more experience in business. This is when I obtained a position at a large law firm in Denver, with asperations of working in the legal field.  The experience I gained there was invaluable and the connections that I made carried me to my next endeavor, working for one of our clients in an accounting and marketing capacity.  While I was working at the real estate investment and redevelopment firm, I was contacted by a former high school teacher of mine, and asked if I would be interested in a teaching position at my alma mater.  As I now felt prepared to share my experiences in buisness with students, I gladly accepted.  All of the "real world" experience, combined with my "book learning", has led me to where I am today.
