Our Philosophy Cattoira Montessori School was founded in June 2002 to foster a love of learning and to educate children to be caring, socially responsible citizens of their community and world. The educational and supplemental care programs at CMS involve children from eighteen months through twelve years of age in three different programs: Toddler, Primary, and Elementary. CMS seeks to educate the whole child, applying the Montessori philosophy, in a family-oriented environment. The philosophy is based on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) whose holistic vision of education focuses on the cognitive, social, emotional and physical needs of the child. PROGRAMS AT CATTOIRA MONTESSORI Children love to learn, and they are given every opportunity to explore the world around them. When you walk into a Montessori classroom, the first thing you will notice is that everyone is busy and interested in what they are doing. Integrated studies provide students with unique and age-appropriate materials that help them to become accountable for their use of time, for accuracy in their work and to evaluate their strengths and areas of growth. Today was my 3 and a half year old son's first day back at school and this is his third year attending Cattoira Montessori. Each year, we anticipate the first day with excitement but going back after spending the summer at his grandparents' house is a tough competition. I was delighted when I asked my son how his first day was because I knew he started out tired and wasn't prepared but to my surprise he exclaimed "It was the best day ever! I love my best teacher ever!!" His teacher this year is Ms Lorena and I wanted to publicly say thank you for being an amazing teacher. He was in the bath tub tonight and asking me if he could go back to school tonight. I couldn't be happier with his enthusiasm for school! Our children have been at this school for many years now. They started in the primary room and are now in lower and upper elementary. As an involved parent and a developmental specialist, I have nothing but positive remarks to make about their home away from home. Our concerns have always been addressed, teachers and administration have always demonstrated implementation of a genuine "Montessori" philosophy, and our children are genuinely happy. I recommend this school both personally and professionally and know many parents that are grateful to have their children there. Both of my sons are currently attending Cattoira Montessori School (for 2 years now); and my husband and I are very glad about our decision to enroll them, both love going to school – they do not want to miss a single day!!!!…………and both have flourished in every aspect (ie.: academically, self-esteem and independence). The Directors and the rest of the staff are always very attentive to us as parents. We strongly recommend Cattoira Montessori School!! We are originally from Europe. When we moved to Miami, after trying several private kindergarten, we ended up at Cattoira. My son started to Cattoira Montessori as a kindergartner and graduated from elementary. HE LOVED THAT SCHOOL!!! As a parent, i loved their teaching as much as their care and attention for each student. I had concerns about adapting to normal school system once he starts the middle school but we didn't face any problem. If you want your children to be in an educational, loving and caring kindergarten and elementary environment, that's the school you need. Amazing school! Staff is professional and committed to creating a nurturing creative environment where kids flourish. They encourage individualism and develop hands on learning activities that make learning fun. The school provides various parent seminars and fun family events. It provides parents the ability to interact with each other and creates a sense of community among students and parents.
