Catamaran Charters, Inc., originally founded in Florida on September 7, 1993, as Catamaran Charters Ltd, has a rich history of transformation and innovation in the catamaran industry. Initially aiming to be the top distributor of catamarans, the company quickly adapted and evolved. In 1997, it rebranded itself as The Catamaran Company and, under Marianne Doux-Laplace's leadership from its Tortola office, began expanding its reach. By becoming a dealer for Groupe Beneteau’s Lagoon division in 1998, The Catamaran Company significantly increased its footprint across Florida and the southern states. This move catapulted them into one of the largest catamaran distributors globally within just five years. They also captured a strategic online advantage by securing a crucial domain that eventually made them a leading digital resource for all things catamaran by 2003. The company continued to enhance its offerings with a major acquisition in 2004, integrating 2 Hulls Inc. into their portfolio and strengthening their presence in the used catamarans market, particularly those under 35 feet. In response to growing demand, 2005 saw the establishment of new dockage facilities capable of hosting up to 25 vessels at Fort Lauderdale docks, alongside expanding office locations such as St. Augustine-a standout performer by 2011-and later in Lauderdale Marine Center. The Catamaran Company experienced significant growth over the years, becoming a global leader in both new and used catamarans by 2012. Their portfolio now includes larger catamarans, responding to market preferences for bigger vessels.
