Casella Waste Systems, Inc., started as a small venture in 1975 when Doug Casella rolled up his sleeves with just a pickup truck to offer waste removal services in Rutland, Vermont. With excellent service drawing positive attention, brother John stepped in the next year, paving the way for their joint entrepreneurial journey. By 1977, inspired by New England's resourcefulness, they set up Vermont’s pioneering recycling facility, foreseeing the possibilities of turning trash into treasure. This foundation allowed Casella to expand rapidly throughout the northeastern U.S. In 1997, Casella stood out by making waves with one of the most successful initial public offerings in the industry, coinciding with a major stock market downturn - an impressive feat indeed! Today, their shares buzz on NASDAQ under 'CWST'. As we progressed into the new millennium, Casella doubled down on integrating resource renewal into its suite of services.
