Reach Carmel Haven About Carmel Haven Carmel Haven, a home with a difference, is a geriatric Care Home run by the Congregation of the Carmelite Religious in Kolwadi, Pune. The flagship venture of Rev. Mother Mary Frances, the former Superior General, Carmel Haven has been a dream in the making for fifteen years. Inspired by the words of a Pune resident who spoke of the need for a modern Senior Citizen’s Home with a humane touch, the genesis of the project began in 1996. From then onwards, the idea began to take shape. The dream saw the light of day when the Home was blessed by His Lordship, Dr. Thomas Dabre, Bishop of Pune and inaugurated by Rev. Mother Mary Frances on March 26, 2011. The pioneering community of Sisters moved into Carmel Haven on April 27, 2012. Carmel Haven opened its doors to the first resident on August 13, 2012. The Home is part of the larger vision of the Congregation with its mission of reaching out to humanity to bring fullness of life and harmony in society and the cosmos. It is a long-awaited opportunity to provide primary care to senior citizens, enabling them to live their lives on their own terms with dignity, ease and confidence. Reach Carmel Haven Reach Carmel Haven Carmel Haven is located on the outskirts of Pune, 12 kms from Pune airport and Hadapsar. The serene surroundings of the Home is free from pollution and noise. The wide expanse of open fields offers a panoramic view of the Ghats and is the favourite haunt of birds like the bulbul, sparrow, magpie, drongo, parrot, mynah and crow pheasant. Organic farming is practised and the fresh produce of fruit and vegetables is utilised to prepare wholesome meals for the residents of the Home.
