CANOPY BEHAVIOR SOLUTIONS, LLC, FREEPORT

Canopy Behavior Solutions, LLC is a uniquely experienced, private practice group of behavior analysts organized to provide exceptional specialized behavioral treatment to individuals with developmental disabilities and consultative behavioral services for school districts. Megan has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) since 2006. She earned her Master’s Degree in Psychology with an Emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida State University and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2008. While in graduate school, Megan worked as a behavior therapist at Brilliant Minds, a clinic providing ABA therapy to children with developmental disabilities. After graduation, Megan was hired as a Clinical Supervisor for Brilliant Minds. Her responsibilities included conducting functional behavior assessments, developing individualized behavior intervention plans, conducting language assessments and designing skill acquisition treatment plans based on The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R) Curriculum, and providing training and supervision to behavior therapists. In September 2009, Megan was hired as the first BCBA for Walton County School District (WCSD). During her time with WCSD, Megan has worked with hundreds of students in need of individualized behavior intervention to address behaviors that interfere with successful participation in the educational environment. She has facilitated dozens of professional learning activities, and built close collaborative relationships with district staff, school administrators, teachers, related service providers, and paraprofessionals. As an FSU alumni, Megan is committed to giving back to the ABA graduate program. She co-taught the undergraduate Conditioning and Learning course as the lab for several years, and speaks annually to graduate students in Dr. Al Murphy’s ABA in Education class. Additionally, Megan provides supervision to individuals pursuing certification in ABA. Misty has over 10 years experience working with students with special needs in the educational setting. She holds Florida teaching certifications in Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education, English 6-12, and Endorsements in Prekindergarten Disabilities, ESOL, and Reading. She earned her Master of Science in Emotional Disturbances and Learning Disabilities from Florida State University in 2008, along with the Certificate of Early Childhood Special Education. While earning her Master’s Degree, she taught prekindergarten disabilities and worked with many young students with autism spectrum disorder. It was there, she learned about the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and the successful impact it had on her students. Misty has ABA experience working both in the clinical and educational setting. Her clinical experience includes discrete trial training (DTT) using the Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R) curriculum, incidental teaching, and knowledge and experience with Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior. She was also employed as a Behavior and Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist for a local school district. There she worked closely with school staff to develop and implement behavior reduction programs, conduct functional behavior assessments (FBA) and develop positive behavior intervention plans (PBIP). Additionally, she was responsible for conducting observations for red flags for autism spectrum disorders, and participated in Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) evaluations to identify students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Misty is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Associate Clinical Director, and Co-Owner of Canopy Behavior Solutions, LLC. We are excited to offer Canopy Academy!
