Maggi and Jr. opened “It’s a Piece of Cake by Maggi” in 1999. Having dreamed of being able to provide custom cakes everyone could afford, they cashed in a planned honeymoon trip to try their hands at a specialty cake shop. After a combined 42 years working with great chefs at Disney World (where Maggi made her first wedding cake) and owning a very successful catering business in Orlando, they landed in Auburndale, Florida. After delivering a wedding cake there, they believed they had found the perfect place to make their dream come alive. Starting part time with only 600 square feet, the business boomed, and they were soon working full time in their present 3,000 square foot location. “It’s a Piece of Cake by Maggi” could not be where it is today without the help and dedication of its knowledgeable staff and the support of the community, all of which Maggi and Jr. consider family.
