Located in Weymouth, MA, C/F Data Systems develops and sells integrated Project Management, Job-Costing, construction accounting software. For over 39 years, C/F Data Systems has been helping specialty contractors to increase, efficiency, improve the business process, and drive profitability. We've been able to do this with our construction accounting software, STRUCTURE. Dennis began his business career at IBM after graduating from Boston College. During his five years at IBM, he received an MBA from Babson College. Dennis left IBM to become a principal in a facilities management company that ran the IT departments of several mid-size businesses. In 1979, he founded C/F Data Systems. C/F Data was engaged in general program development and consulting in its early years, at the same time that the company developed a software solution for the construction industry. Dennis has been involved in all functional areas of the company and continues to be a guiding force in helping to shape its direction. Eric graduated from Bentley University in 1983 with a degree in Marketing Management. He began his sales career at ADP, where he was exposed to accounting system sales and a number of industries. In 1985, he joined the C/F Data System sales department and was quickly promoted to Vice President of Sales. In 2003, he left the company to pursue an opportunity to sell Timberline software with a local distributor. Eric was hailed as one of the top producers in the Timberline channel. In 2008, he joined Textura, another company with software products that complement the construction industry. After seeing how other companies operate and treat their customers, Eric realized what he had at C/F Data and returned as its President. As the Vice President of Operations, Marilyn Kelland takes on many duties to ensure the company runs smoothly, whether it be customer support or anything else. Marilyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Management Science from Bridgewater State College in 1987, and for the next several years she worked her way to become the Head of the Payables department of an Electrical Contractor using STRUCTURE. She started with C/F Data in November of 1994 with seven years of STRUCTURE experience already under her belt, and with this company she had the opportunity of being a NAWIC member and the Senior Support Representative. John A. Rapaport, Esq. is the Chief Contracting Officer (CCO) and General Counsel (GC) for Component Assembly Systems, Inc./Component West, a national wall and ceiling specialty subcontractor with offices in New York, Boston, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Maryland, Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco. John graduated from the University of Michigan Honors Program with a B.A. in History in 1986. Thereafter, he received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1989. After practicing construction law, John joined Component in 1991, a firm founded by his father Lew in 1964 and where he remains the company’s Chairman and CEO. John spearheaded the company’s efforts to digitize and modernize its technology infrastructure. Through his vision, the company was able to develop its own award winning proprietary software known as CASim, now in its fourth version, which tracks and update progress on its projects using the latest technologies. John serves on the New York City Bar Association's Construction Law Committee and The University of Michigan's Honors Alumni Council, among many groups. He is a Member of the Bars of Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, D.C.. C/F Data Systems, based in Weymouth Massachusetts, has been servicing the Construction industry since 1979. C/F Data’s management team has an average tenure of over 20 years and its support staff also boasts a group of dedicated specialists who have worked for the company for an average of 10 years. C/F Data’s active approach to listening to its clients needs, has allowed us to always have an uncanny ability to predict the next trend in construction software. C/F Data Systems was founded in 1979 by Dennis Coleman, who came from IBM with a background as a systems engineer. Initially the company developed custom programs for different industries including law firms, trucking companies and electrical wholesalers. At that time, the company sold “turnkey” systems which meant that C/F provided their software as well as the hardware. Later that same year, there seemed to be a trend towards developing software for a few local specialty subcontractors, one of whom was Broadway Electric, a company C/F Data is proud to still have as a client today. The company grew at a steady rate expanding its presence throughout Massachusetts. In 1985, Eric Goldstein was hired to expand the client base. At first C/F started to market in other New England states, attracting a number of contractors in Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Hampshire and ultimately Vermont and Maine as well. In 1990, C/F established a second office in Oakbrook Terrace, IL to attract new clients in the greater Chicago area. Very quickly they established their reputation in this market and added clients from Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan. Around that same time, as the industry changed, so did C/F. Open operating environments like UNIX were becoming prevalent in business computing environments so C/F converted their programs accordingly, while continuing to maintain all of the functionality they had built into their initial product. In the late 90’s, as networking PC’s together became more stable and was being adopted by more and more companies as a cost efficient way to run office applications, C/F once again adopted to the changing technological landscape by converting their product to a Windows environment and renaming the product STRUCTURE. The advent and adoption of the internet made it much easier for C/F to increase their visibility with companies across the nation and C/F started attracting contractors from everywhere. The internet also allowed them to institute their on-line tele-training program which predated WEBEX and other online collaborative tools and is still available today.
