Jim and Penny Burns, owners of Burns Custom Builders, are both native Floridians. They have lived in Polk County most of their lives. They have been married and have worked together since 1988. The Burns' have three sons and eight grandchildren. Penny works in the office daily handling payroll, receivables and estimating. Jim is a state certified residential contractor and oversees all aspects of the business. This year they started the Burns bathroom transformation as their way to give back to the community.  J.C. has been a Polk county resident for 24 years. He recently started working part time for Burns Custom Builders as a clerical assistant and intern. He attends the University of South Florida and is earning a bachelor's degree in accounting. He plans to earn CMA certification through the Institute of Managerial Accountants (IMA). J.C. is also considering graduate studies toward a CPA certification. David Bean joined the staff of Burns Custom Builders in September 2009. David's responsibilities include all of the phases of construction management, from project estimating and cost analysis to on-site constructin planning and scheduling. David can also assist our clients with custom designing their home plans and assisting them with product selection to ensure each of our client's projects fulfills their every need. Before joining Burns, David worked for several of the nations's largest home building firms, such as Pulte Homes, D.R. Horton Homes and Taylor Woodrow Homes. David's position with these companies included Regional Construction Coordinator and Construction Manager. Over David's 25+ years in the construction industry, he has built more than 7500 single family homes, townhomes and condominiums. Brock Burns- Vice President Production Manager, Project Superitendent Brock Burns has been with Burns Custom Builders for 14 years. He currently holds a Florida residential contractors license. Since Brock has worked for Burns, he has been trained in painting, finish carpentry, framing, ceramic tile and laminate installations, granite fabrication and cabinetry. All of these fields have helped mold Brock into his position today as production manager and job site superintendent. Derek Burns has been working in the construction industry for 13 years. Having worked as a painter, drywall finisher, flooring installer, granite fabricator and cabinet installer, he is uniquely positioned in the kitchen and bath deisgn field. Derek studied at the University of South Florida majoring in business and is certified in laminate flooring installation, Zodiac quartz fabrication and is a Pro-Advance technician. His kitchen and bathroom designs have been featured in several homes valued at over one million dollars and had a handicap bathroom design featured in the newspaper. Melody Collier has worked for Burns Custom Builders for three years and has been in the consrtuction business for 43 years. She previously worked for a manufactured housing business for 33 years until their closing. She was very appreciative when offered the job with Burns and is excited to continue her career with them for the next five years when she plans to retire. Eric Fauble - Production Manager, Project Supervisor Eric has been with Burns Custom Builders for 20 years. Eric started with the company as a trim carpenter and has worked in all phases of construction. Eric's high standard for quality has made him instumental in our quality control process.
