Founded in January of 2012, Burby Engineering, Inc. was incorporated to provide a higher level of personalized engineering services with a strong focus on building relationships and providing cost-effective solutions. The structural engineering services we offer serve a variety of clients, and our projects include commercial, residential, condominium, education, public, and marine sectors of the building construction industry. Jason M. Burby, P.E., C.G.C. received a bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Master’s of Engineering in Structural Engineering from the University of Florida. Mr. Burby is experienced in both construction and engineering allowing him to better service clients with engineering solutions that are responsive to their needs. Mr. Burby’s areas of expertise include detailed structural engineering design, consulting, and inspections for the restoration and repair of existing buildings and the design and construction of new buildings. Mr. Burby also provides forensic investigation services associated with design and construction matters and serves as an expert. Mr. Burby is a licensed professional engineer in eleven states, including Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming. Mr. Burby is also a licensed general contractor in Florida. Vivian Tyson has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry and has most recently served as the Manager of Administrative Services for a multi-million dollar engineering and construction design-build firm. With a portfolio of work encompassing commercial, condominium, and high-end residential, her experience provides a unique level of oversight to ensure quality in the outcome and expectations of any project. *Held Individually by the Company’s President Provided the structural engineering design and construction administration services for the foundation, truss, CMU, concrete, canopy, steel connections, parapet, and steel beams. Provided structural engineering plans and specifications for the 16,000-square-foot building. Structural engineering and consulting services were provided for the new pool cabana. Scope of services included design of the pile foundation, wood floor and roof system, and cantilever beam columns extending full height. A 10-story hotel with a four-level parking garage, this building sits on the intercoastal waterway of Clearwater Beach, adjacent to Clearwater Municipal Marina. The building is a 121,000-square-foot hotel that includes 108 hotel guestrooms and 98 parking spaces. The structural framework is reinforced concrete and post-tension floors that sit on a drilled shaft pile foundation. Burby Engineering’s president is the Engineer of Record for this project. A 17-story hotel and condominium with a seven-level parking garage, this building sits on the Gulf of Mexico and is one of the tallest buildings on Clearwater Beach. The construction consists of reinforced concrete and post-tension floors that bear on a drilled shaft foundation. Burby Engineering’s president worked on this project while employed for the Engineer of Record. Family Care Center is a multi-purpose health clinic for physicians and dentists. A 3,200-square-foot addition was added to the existing facility. The structural framework includes reinforced masonry and bar joist construction that bear on a typical strip footing foundation. Burby Engineering’s president worked on this project while employed for the Engineer of Record. City Electric is a 2000-square-foot single story office building. Full construction documents were provided for this facility, including the civil engineering. Springbrook Hospital is a health care provider. The engineering services provided for this existing facility included a removal of the existing roof structure that suffered from long-term excessive deflection. The existing structural conditions were surveyed, and a new roof structure was designed. The Preserve at Alafia is a multi-family residential apartment development, including several mid-rise buildings, located on the Alafia River. The structural framework includes a heavy post-tensioned transfer deck that supports four levels of frame construction. Burby Engineering’s president provided the structural post-tension engineering services for this project. Provided site inspections of an existing metal building and analyzed existing structural conditions to ensure the safe installation of the proposed solar array. Provided a site observation, review of available documents, and engineering analysis for the installation of the flag poles to the building structure. Jason Burby provided structural engineering support of the coaster’s more than 300 foundations while employed by Belt Engineering who is the Engineer of Record for the project. Specific challenges include designing the foundations for low impact placement of the park’s current infrastructure and resolving the high forces due to the speed of the coaster which reaches a top speed of approximately 60 mph.
