Headquartered in Wilder, KY, Building Crafts, Inc. (BCI) was founded in 1955 by the Zalla family. Under the leadership of Marty Zalla, and now President and CEO, John Zalla, the company has prospered and grown into a construction industry leader. Todd has focused his career in the water and wastewater industry, participating in the design and construction of hundreds of industrial wastewater treatment systems. Todd’s experience includes working as an Engineering Consultant plus Vice President of Engineering for an industrial wastewater equipment manufacturer and he is currently the Principal Engineer for the Industrial Solutions Division of Building Crafts, Inc. Jeff has 35 years of experience in the construction industry with a strong background in education, food processing plants, water and wastewater treatment plants, healthcare, industrial and commercial construction. His attention to detail and communication skills helps his projects to be completed on-time and within budget. These are the reasons you definitely want Jeff on your team when you are designing, planning and building your project. Brad contributes 26 years of his experience to BCI’s success in estimating, managing, and closing out water and wastewater treatment projects. He uses his knowledge of past projects to provide cost savings, schedule adjustments, problem solving and communication skills to complete projects on-time and within budget. He is also responsible for BCI’s IT infrastructure. Darryl has many roles with BCI including as Vice President of Safety and is responsible for company and employee safety practices. He draws on his 20 plus years of experience to estimate, manage and closeout water and wastewater treatment plant projects efficiently. He also serves as the Corporate Secretary and Treasurer for BCI. Shannon Stallmeyer is the Controller at Building Crafts, Inc., with responsibility for managing all aspects of the company’s accounting and finance activities including financial records, payroll, banking, budget analysis and daily operation of the accounting department. She started her career with Building Crafts, Inc. in 2011 and has over 12 years of experience in construction finance and CPA work. She earned her Maser’s degree from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Public Accountant. BCI understands how critical our employees and team members are, so guaranteeing their safety on the job, day-in and day-out, is of paramount importance. In order to achieve this goal, we institute strict safety guidelines that are to be followed by every person 24/7. BCI has a full-time Safety Director to maintain safety awareness throughout the company with a “zero accidents” policy as our goal. We begin a new BCI employee’s career with an eight-hour orientation to familiarize them with all the safety guidelines necessary to perform their job in the proper manner. Project Managers and Superintendents are provided with more in-depth training on all safety procedures. Specialized training is given as each particular position demands including PPE, HAZWOPER, confined space entry, competent person, trenching, excavation, fall protection, etc. We are proud of our safety record at BCI. Our EMR and DART ratings are among the lowest in the industry, but we are not satisfied. We will continue to strive to improve our safety performance as long as we have valued employees on the job.
