BSD Consulting was founded in May 1998, in Switzerland, based on awareness that the economic power of business can substantially trigger sustainable development in society. BSD’s first project on sustainable supply chain management provided broad experience in traceability, certification, corporate management, and communication. It also paved the way for BSD consultants to employ the use of voluntary standards schemes, which gradually led to the full range of sustainability solutions that BSD Consulting offers today. Over the years, BSD Consulting expanded its activities, aggregating different offices in four continents, and was accredited as a partner and training organization by global organizations such as Social Accountability International (SAI) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). BSD’s core documents are the BSD Business Principles and the BSD Code of Practice. These documents define BSD’s values as a set of general guidelines and requirements applicable to all employees and subcontractors in all activities.
