Based in Orange County, with a proven track record of success, Brown & Company focuses on four key business models that have been very successful for the company over the years. Brown & Company’s main focus has been the ownership of commercial shopping centers. Through investment, redevelopment and focused asset management, Brown & Company prides itself on owning and building properties that are designed and operated to the highest standards and create a strong, customer focused shopping environment. Brown & Company has elected to manage most of the owned assets under the name Brown & Company Management Services, LLC. Through BCMS, Brown & Company has been able to provide professional asset management, tenant coordination/build-out, development and construction management, city entitlement oversight, financial management, and landlord lease negotiations. Brown & Company has successfully structured shopping center partnership investments for over twenty years, comprised of 15 different property ownerships, all of which were sourced and structured by Brown & Company and its predecessor companies. Through our efforts, very strong equity gains and consistent cash flow has been delivered to our partners. Never has a property been lost to foreclosure, lender deed-in-lieu, or lender loan modification. Currently, Brown & Company and its affiliated partnerships hold seven retail properties within their portfolio. As cities work to reestablish places where people want to live, work and play, Brown & Company has responded by rehabilitating and converting older buildings and constructing new-mixed use projects. We selectively execute urban infill development in premier cities in Orange and Los Angeles Counties toward this end, all while standing out for our commitment to improve the landscape by incorporating the highest standards of architecture and urban place making into each and every project. Our Mission The mission of Brown & Company, Inc. is to own, build and manage retail and commercial mixed-use properties that incorporate the highest design standards and deliver optimum value to our investors and tenants. Brown & Company, Inc. has deep roots in California, tracing back to early last century when brothers Milton and Abe Brown opened the first Brown & Company retail store on the main street of the agricultural town of Gridley in 1911. Milton’s son and then grandson continued the family business until 2005, all while acquiring investment properties and land in Gridley and neighboring cities. The family was and still is very well known for its local community involvement, service and philanthropy. The last Brown & Company store closed in 2005, and Milton Brown’s great-grandson, Brown & Company’s President Gregory S. Brown, has continued to build the family real estate business. He formed BH Investments, BH Urban Equities, and BH Management Services, LLC, prior to founding Brown & Company, Inc. in 2006. Today, Brown & Company owns several shopping centers and single tenant net leased buildings throughout Southern and Northern California in conjunction with its affiliated entities and related partnerships.
