Our mission at the Broward Center for Counseling is to utilize our education and training in the field of psychology and mental health to help individuals, couples, and families face life challenges and live fulfilling and healthy lives. Who We Are Welcome to the new Broward Center for Counseling, formerly known as KPK Counseling. Although our name has changed you will find the same excellence of service we have provided throughout the Plantation community as KPK Counseling. Our office will remain in the same location where we have practiced now for more than 20 years with many of the same staff who have worked here together for much of that time. Our office staff is dedicated to serving the mental health needs of the tri-county area. Our therapists are available for day, evening and Saturday appointments to assist you with crisis intervention, problem solving or personal growth therapy. We are conveniently located off of I-595 west of the Turnpike and east of I-75. Convenient to I-595, the Turnpike, and I-75, our clients travel from Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale and even as far as West Palm Beach. At the Broward Center for Counseling our goals include helping our clients achieve improved emotional and physical wellness. We collaborate with other professionals such as medical doctors, lawyers and school staff as needed. Please allow us to assist in your journey to healthier living. The Broward Center for Counseling is a diverse group of licensed and experienced psychologists and mental health counselors who are committed to helping people live happier and healthier lives. We are a group of dedicated, ethical, compassionate and hard working therapists who are devoted to helping people achieve success. We have both male and female therapists who are available for day, evening and Saturday appointments. We offer services for Spanish speaking clients as well. Every therapist in our office participates in continuing education to remain aware of advances in the field of psychology and to provide up-to-date quality care. Our clients at Broward Center for Counseling span all ages as our therapists are trained to work with children, teens, adults and a senior population. Therapy begins by asking for help. Finding a therapist who understands your needs and your situation is important. Psychotherapy can mean so many different things to different people: from understanding and gaining charge of a major emotional or substance abuse problem, to improving a couple or family relationship, to raising children in an environment you feel good about, to knowing yourself better. A therapist helps you bridge the way for change and personal growth. Our clients change behaviors and life circumstances through becoming self aware and empowered to lead more fulfilling lives. Broward Center for Counseling provides individual, couples, family and group therapy. As licensed professionals we are trained to provide services to children, teens, adults and seniors. I love being a therapist and enjoy the opportunity to help others gain understanding of their life situations and make meaningful changes to better themselves and their lives. Additionally, I do evaluations for gifted school placement as well as disability, immigration, personal injury, and PRN. As both my wife and son are psychotherapists at the Broward Center for Counseling, we always have a lot to talk about and are constantly learning and sharing new ideas and approaches. For those of you who are dog lovers, my Goldendoodle, Marli, comes to work with me and offers free hugs and lots of love. It is my belief that everyone can benefit from psychotherapy, especially those who experience anxiety and stress in their daily lives. I have been a licensed psychotherapist in private practice since 1996. In addition to my other areas of expertise, I am a certified addictions counselor, and work with both addicts and their families. I have facilitated battered intervention groups for 9 years as well as working with victims of domestic violence. I also do psychological screenings for IVF patients when receiving egg or sperm donors. As a bilingual therapist who is fluent in English and Spanish, I enjoy working with adolescents, couples, the elderly, and families. My purpose and satisfaction in being a therapist is helping people achieve desired changes and supporting them through difficult times. I completed my Doctor of Psychology degree in 1997 and, since then, have been fortunate enough to do what I love every day…counseling. I pride myself on my ability to relate equally well with children, adolescents, and adults. Patients frequently give me feedback that they feel comfortable and at ease in our sessions almost immediately. I appreciate the courage and strength it takes to initiate therapy, and value the relationships I have with my patients. My approach to therapy tends to be cognitive-behavioral, focusing on how one’s thoughts impact one’s feelings and actions. I also value the importance of looking at how a person’s family of origin and current family have shaped the person. When working with children and adolescents, I believe it is important to incorporate the whole family for true changes to occur. I take a collaborative approach with my patients, helping them to achieve their goals.
