Before starting his own company, Kim Brock served as CIO for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Early in his career Mr. Brock helped develop the FLORIDA System, a database that houses the information of Florida’s more than 2 million public assistance recipients. As CIO, Mr. Brock oversaw the Florida public assistance program change from a manual process to a web-based process. During the 2004 – 2005 hurricane seasons, one of the most devastating in Florida, Mr. Brock had the unique opportunity to oversee the “Food for Florida” emergency assistance program. “Food for Florida” was an automated process created to provide emergency assistance to millions of families affected by the hurricanes. Out of this excercise came what is now ACCESS Florida (Automated Community Connection for Economic Self Sufficiency), a fully web-based public assistance portal.
